Hand Washing Clothes and a Rolling Home

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I just wanted to pop in here to send my love and thought I'd share a Titus 2 moment of washing clothes by hand:-)  If anything it may bring a smile to you:-) Not long ago, brother Jim did his duty to make sure our van house continues to roll down the road. We are getting things done here on the land and looking to head out at some point in the near future, Lord willing, and I plan to take you all with us as we roll down the highways.  I'll admit it again, it's nice in the flesh to take a break and live like normal people for a while, but we were called to something different and we need to be able to let go and 'go' to preach the GOSPEL .   We can't be having our roots growing too deep as this life is not our own is it sisters?  Are you in a place where you could let go of the life you live and have it totally turned upside down and not have it destroy your spiritual state?  Beware as the Lord may do just that and we must ...

Washing Clothes With Baking Soda

Image
Greetings to my Titus2 Sisters. Today I have a quick keeper at home helpful hint for those who might not know about it.  If you look on the internet you will see many different ways to use baking soda and today I will share a personal testimony as to how it works for washing clothes. Being off grid and tiny house living on the road, I'm always looking for ways to refine and minimize our life and one issue we have is washing clothes because we don't just turn on the tap and get water so I try to find ways to take care of our washing needs while conserving water.   Not long ago I posted about using soap nuts and how washed our clothes in a dry bag in the van.  You can read about it here:   https://titus24sisters.blogspot.com/2020/04/van-dwelling-washing-clothes-as-you.html  . They washed very well with small amounts of water to rinse and I really like them but I don't want to be a slave to ordering them off the internet and s ince then I've been co...

Van Dwelling, Washing Clothes As You Drive

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! How is your day going, are you strong in the Lord???  We are pressing on here, being faithful and praying for you all.  Thank you, to those of you who are praying for us as well:-) I did an experiment on clothes washing for van dwelling (travelers) and have the results to share with you but first let me share a few details.  When we're in the van full time, we're at the mercy of laundry-mats and sometimes they are way less than desirable.  (Think dirty machines, neighborhoods that we're not welcome, having to buy laundry credit cards because they don't take quarters etc.)  I've been wanting to find a way to try doing some laundry on the road without using a lot of water and I found an idea that worked the first time and it involves using soap nuts.  I've known about them for years but never took the time to try them.  It's a berry nut from some other country (you can look up the details on it) and you use the shells fro...

Hand Washing Clothes With a Clothes Plunger (Off Grid)

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I hope you are all doing well today?  We are working hard on our 'to do' list before we head out on the road again to share the gospel good news, and we're getting closer!  With the world going the way it is, I thought I'd share with you how to hand wash clothes with a plunger so that you can be prepared if need be. (If you don't have to pay for water, or pay very much for it, you can save money by doing this.)  I've been washing clothes by hand for many years, even when we hand pumped all our water back at our former homestead in Wisconsin, and think it's one of the most satisfying jobs for a keeper at home.  We all have our own likes and dislikes so if you don't care for it, no problem :-)  (In another post I will share a different clothes washing device I use.) Since we live off grid we have to run the generator to pump our water so I like to fill a 50 gallon barrel full so I always have it. In warmer weather ...
