Van Life Thermal Cooking Rice with Veggies

⛅ Good afternoon sisters! 🌥️ Hey, today I have another cooking video showing how easy it is to thermal cook 🍚 rice as brother Jim has been asking me to do these to help brothers also. This is great in the van 🚐 life (or RV, tiny house or even a big regular house 🏡:-) because it's super simple and saves 💵 $$ energy $$ 💵.  One thing I didn't mention is that I have even thermal cooked the rice in the pot 🍲 I boiled  it...you just bring it to a boil for a couple minutes, turn it off and wrap it in a blanket or towels  for 30 minutes 🕧 so anyone can do this without any special kitchen gadgets. You can check out the video and I'll add more comments 💬 afterwards. I suggest you make more rice 🍚 than you need and have left overs for the next day(s).  If you live out of a cooler like we do, you want to cool ❄️the rice down first so you don't melt your ice:-)   Rice is super economical, for instance:  I used 1 1/4 cup rice in the video and it made enough for 3 generous

Heating Water Off Grid in Van Life

Greetings to our Titus 2 sisters!   We are grateful to have arrived at our destination and are thankful for yet another productive day.  How is you day going sisters? I thought it was time to get on a Titus 2 post so I'm going to share about the various ways we heat water on the road in this van life. We know some people are interested and for others it may help if you end up out here too. I used to just use a small propane camping stove but we went through a time where the cannisters were hard to find and with what's going on in the world, who knows when 'they' might begin restricting supplies etc.   We talked about alternatives and I found this... An inexpensive, small 800 watt coffee maker that runs on our small generator.  Gas to run the generator is much less costly than the propane canisters (@ $3.50+ per) so we save money doing it:-) And brother Jim came up with another idea.  See that hole? That's the exhaust hole for the

Cooking White Rice in a Thermal Cooker

Greetings sisters in Christ! Are you standing strong in the Word and looking for that blessed hope? Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ Titus 2:13 Not long ago I did a post about thermal cooking, you can read that HERE .  In that post I said I'd share about how to cook rice in it, after I figured out a good ratio, so here it is:-) At this point I've only done it in a big batch because I wanted left overs and boy did I have a lot left over!!! (We ate off it for several days:-) I used 2 1/2 cups of long grain white rice and 4 cups of water.  (I also added a tablespoon of dried onions and a drizzle of oil.)  I brought it to a boil, poured it into the thermal cooker, wrapped it up and walked away for 2 hours.  When I opened it, all the rice was fully cooked, not mushy and all I had to do was fluff it with a fork.  It was rather tightly packed but no big deal.  The cooking time is normally 1 1/2 - 2 t

Thermal Cooking and Roof Top Storage

Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for His gift of another day to serve Him. Some day it will be our last so let's be sure we use each one wisely and for His glory! Thine, O  Lord  is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O  Lord , and thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 Today is a simple keeper of the home post about my thermal cooker. Thermal cooking is like slow cooking but saves you power, in fact this thing has paid for itself many times over.  (I think they run $50-$60 but I got mine on sale for $45.  Either way the price is worth it.)  This one holds 3 quarts which is is a lot for us so I usually make just enough for a couple meals.  It's super sturdy, stainless steel and should last many years. You can cook all sorts of food in it but normally I do soup, usually something with potatoes and cabbage and then what
