Rest Stop

Image
Good evening again sisters! I was cleaning out my phone and saw that I forgot to post these videos I took for you. I read about this rest stop before we headed out down the road today, so we decided to check it out.  We pulled in and everyone was busy using the facilities but we were interested in the river:-)  We took a walk down there appreciated the beauty that our Father created.... We appreciate these respites in our life considering most of it is spent in the busy world.  We just left a place that we'd stayed for a few days and every evening it was like all the big, loud trucks were out, revving their exhaust, round and round, bouncing the echoes off the walls.  The leaf and debris blower guy was out and thankfully I fell asleep before the sweeper came around and I didn't wake up which is unusual for me.  Sometimes we don't get to sleep until very late so in the morning we awake to many cars around us, engines roaring and semi trucks running.  We've g

Freely Give

Image
Praise God for sisters in Christ! In Matthew 10 shows we are to freely give and that's what we should be doing on a daily basis as situations come into our lives that allow us to do so.   Obviously we are to use discernment in what we give and how much we give.  For example, we can freely give time to someone who wants the strive in the truth of God's Word but if they don't want to obey then we are not to freely give our time for someone who is rebelling against the Word.  We can freely give food and help beggars but if they don't want to work to get off the street and support themselves, we are not to freely give all our resources away to someone who will squander them.  We are to freely give compassion to our children as we raise them but if they are disobedient and won't obey, they will need discipline. In our life we come across all sorts of situations that we give time, resources and of course the main one....the gospel. This morning I had just finished c

Salt and Sticks

Image
Greetings sisters! We have a van dwelling post in the discernment blog that we add to share little snippets of what's going on as we travel and for the most part I keep it updated here as well.  I just added one over there and thought I'd include it here as well. ************************ Since I'm a keeper at home on the road and can't stock up in bulk like I used to so I have to be on the lookout for good deals. When we roll into a town I scout out stores that might offer what we need for the best deals.  I came across 3 bags of this good 1 lb bags of salt for $1 each.  As we take our daily walks or do our shopping, brother Jim brings his stick.  I call it the 'scripture stick' :-)  He put 3 multi side sign on it... We were walking through a store and a man saw the stick and said, with his very big voice, to his wife and buddy (and everyone else in earshot :-) ' HEY! You see that guys stick?  Amen! Check out that dude's stick!!!! "

A Blessing or a Curse?

Image
Good evening sisters in Christ, Brother Jim brought up this subject of 'blessings or curses'. Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the  Lord  your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the  Lord  your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. (Dueteronomy 11:26-28) As we take our morning walk we often see nails and pieces of metal laying in parking lots so we pick them up and dispose of them, calling it ' loving our neighbor '.  We were in an area for a few days and walked quite a bit in one particular area and saw several nails in the parking lot... After picking up another nail brother Jim stopped me and said ' Stand here and look around.  Do you see something fishy going on ?' I stood by him, looked for a couple seconds when I saw this sign...

Dangerous Distractions

Greetings to my striving sisters in Christ! When we were on the homesteads I looked forward to winter time as being slower, not such hard physical work with the gardens, yards, animals, wood cutting, preserving foods etc.  It was a time to focus on other things, inside (especially when you live in an icy, snowy climate like we did.)    That can also lead to idle time if sisters are not careful and idle time can lead to sin.  I took this picture to share a warning with you. Years ago, before I was born again in Christ, I used to get some of these magazines. I liked to look at the country homes, the recipes, decorating ideas, read people's stories etc.  Then when I became a new creation I realized that although some of the stuff in them was not sinful, it was idle and a waste of my time when we were to be redeeming it (Ephesians 5).  There was also a lot of sin...Christ-mass, Easter and all the pagan holidays are showcased, the people are immodestly showing themselve

Are You Ready?

Good evening sisters, Another day is coming to a close.  Every day I look back and see if I could have done something better and prepare my mind to do so the next day.  We were in a town witnessing and I saw this sign...it made me laugh because the weather was in the 60's that day.  I know it gets colder in this area but where we come from it's already cold and snowy and people have already been preparing. Back when we were on a homestead we spent a lot of time cutting wood, shutting down the garden, preparing animals for winter etc.  People do a lot of that in their every day lives from one season to the next.  It all makes me think of: Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. Amos 4:12 When I was 'going to church' before I was born again in Christ, I understood nothing of their confusing messages but I do recall a few key verses that stood out and one was that... prepare to m

Good evening sisters in Christ! Let Psalm 24:1-14 encourage you.... Unto thee, O  Lord , do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O  Lord ; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O  Lord , thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O  Lord . Good and upright is the  Lord : therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the  Lord  are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. For thy name's sake, O  Lord , pardon min

Helping the Homeless Beggars (In United States)

Greetings to my sisters in Christ. Another day is almost done and I'm thankful for every minute of it.  We all need to realize how precious every single second, minute and hour is that the Lord blesses us with. O give thanks unto the  Lord , for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the  Lord  say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the  Lord  in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Oh that men would praise the  Lord  for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with g
