Freedom in Forgiveness

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I pray you are thankful in this day the Lord has made!   And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.    Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:15-17 I hope this post on forgiveness sets some sisters free.  In keeping with the guidelines for women, this post is not teaching what forgiveness is, it's an encouragement for sisters to forgive themselves. It's common for women to forgive others, yet harbor guilt and un-forgiveness in themselves for what has transpired prior to being in Christ. Many of you, like me, were not a new creation in Christ until later in your years, after your children were gro

Peanuts and the Profane

Greetings sisters in Christ! I want to share with you a story about my past.  When I was young I was pushed through the man made Lutheran system by my parents and part of that was to do their silly Christ-mass Eve plays.  I was very young and didn't know any better so I thought it was a good thing to do even though I hated Sunday school (I was very shy and didn't fit in) and I didn't like church because I didn't understand any of it (praise God for that) but I had a fear and respect of God.  Anyway, at that time of the year, all I knew was they said it was Jesus' birthday and we were to celebrate it.  (It never made sense to me why we gave gifts because birthday people receive gifts and we weren't having a birthday, Jesus was.  Nobody could answer that for me.) Moving on to the play....we all had our roles to say and do and at the end of it was a big surprise (for me and my siblings anyway.)  After the play was over, every child received a small brown bag fill

Do I Need To Be Heard?

Image
Good evening sisters in Christ! We are rejoicing in a day that was filled with hard work and there is a great satisfaction in a job well done.  We are plugging away on our garden, a little here and there but not getting anxious because we are starting from ground up, once again.   In this post I want to encourage us all to ponder the question " Do I Need To Be Heard ?"  Culture shows through psychology and all sorts of emotional tests, that women 'just want to be heard'.  Quite honestly, it's not just a woman's issue because pretty much anyone wants to be heard if they think they have something of value to say but my question is do we 'need' to be heard? I see 2 areas in life where women want their voice to be heard.  Personal and biblical. (I'm generalizing everything under those.)  In the personal areas we normally want to share our victories, trials, struggles, thoughts and possibly looking for input while discussing topics etc.  Thes

Encouragement from Psalm 107

Image
Good afternoon sisters! Today I share with you Psalm 107. To me, this shows the continuous long suffering from the Father...let us not take advantage of that and give Him our reasonable service (Romans 12:1) We are out in the world today and I did this in a parking lot so you will notice a brief distraction on the end.  Brother Jim can breeze right through a tornado or something whereas I lose my train of thought quickly at times...but that's just me:-) Anyway I hope it's a blessing to you. Each day we are alive shows the love and mercy of our Father who allows us repentance and to be restored to Him. Have a joyous day. Sometimes the Little Things Are Bigger Than They Seem

Image
Greetings Christian Sisters! Let us rejoice! Make a joyful noise unto the  Lord , all ye lands.  Serve the  Lord  with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the  Lord  he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the  Lord  is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 100 Just reading that passage makes you want to sing and rejoice doesn't it?  The Psalms are so great for that, lifting us up when we are down, comforting us when we can't seem to get back up and sometimes rebuking us when we should have been getting back up but didn't work hard enough at it. I want to share about how something really small made a big difference and correlate it to small works being bigger than they appear.  The other day we had to go to th

Strangers and Pilgrims...Married and in the Word

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I just wanted to share our latest Married and in the Word audio with you. http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2020/04/strangers-and-pilgrims.html We are continuing on our projects lately and enjoying working with our hands.  We've started laying out our garden and began filling the barrels, brother Jim reworked part of a deck we had in front of the utility cabin, I've been dehydrating, washing clothes and cooking in the sun oven.  The days are perfect weather for getting things done and we shall see what tomorrow brings! I pray you are all standing strong and I leave you with this verse and picture. O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. Banana Pancakes

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! How are my keeper at home sisters doing today? I'm just going to do a quick post on a simple recipe that made brother Jim really happy! We rarely eat regular pancakes and one day, not long ago, he asked if I would make some for him because we still have some real maple syrup left so I made these instead of the traditional kind.   I'm sure many of you already know about them but I'll share just in case a sister has never tried them.  They are super easy and a great way to use up older bananas. * 1 Banana * 1 Egg * 2-3 Tablespoons flour  * Cinnamon (optional)  *Mash the banana then mix in the egg, flour and cinnamon. (I hand mash and mix, the batter will be sort of lumpy but that's fine.) *Pour small amounts into a hot skillet and cook one side until you see it drying around the edges.   *Flip and cook a few minutes til it's done. Some people don't use flour but I like the consistency better and they are easier to flip

An Encouraging Story of a Young Man Working To Be Set Free For Christ

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I just wanted to share this link with you that you might find encouraging to read. http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2020/04/killing-flesh-and-getting-free-for.html Brother Jim wrote it (on the discernment blog) about a young brother in the Lord who worked (and is working) hard to set himself free.  The saints are out there, scattered, but there. Praise God! Love in Christ, Sister Deb The biblical gospel... https://www.dontperish.com/the-gospel.html

The Blessing of a Window and Homemade Hummus

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Spring is in full swing here at our little off grid homestead and we're still working hard getting projects done.  One such project is that we had a window in our bedroom that was covered by metal on the outside.  At the time we were setting this place up and brother Jim was putting the roof and porch on, we decided to just tin over the one window on the end of our bedroom.  (You can read how we set up our homestead HERE .) Just the other day brother Jim said we should look into opening it for better air flow so that's what he did today!  He had to cut the metal away from the window and frame it. What a blessing that is because it lets in more light and lots more air.  Tomorrow brother Jim is going into our utility cabin, the little one by the house, and putting in some shelves for me so that I have like a pantry area again for my food storage.  I'm excited because I have piles of stuff in there just waiting to be organized:-) As

How To Cut Your Family's Hair

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I pray your day is going well and you are strong in the Lord. Today I have a quick post to encourage you (if you aren't already) to learn how to cut your family's hair.  We know of believers that are spending good money to cut their hair when they could do it for free at home. For women this is easy because her hair is to be covered and the only needs of a hair trimming would be on the ends when they get dry.  A simply straight across cut on the back will suffice for regular density hair. If you have thicker hair and want to thin it to keep the density down, you can pull all your hair forward by your forehead, make a pony tail, twist it and cut off the end.  It makes long layers that lighten the load and bulk of your hair when you put it up.  Yes there are some people who think women should not cut their hair, ever, even to just trim it, but we don't see that in God's Word.  We also don't see in God's Word how long a woman's
