Milk and Honey and Off Grid Coffee

Image
Good afternoon sisters in Christ, Today is another gift from the Lord, let us rejoice and be thankful for it. He has transformed us into a new creation from the wretched being of our past.  Praise God for His forgiveness and mercy and let us strive on in holiness and obedience! I saw this picture at a thrift store a while ago and thought it was simple and quaint...speaking volumes of times past when life was less complicated. Brother Jim remembers the milk man and I remember a short time my parents were helping out on a farm and bringing fresh milk home in a metal can.  We would skim the cream off and take turns shaking it in a mason jar until it turned into butter.  (That was like gold to us in our poor family.)  There was a time that brother Jim and I milked goats and I made butter, ice cream, cheese, yogurt, kefir and all that from the milk.  (We also at one time had over 50 egg laying hens so this picture says much to me :-)  We normally don't drink much milk but

Encouragement from Psalm 9

Image
Good evening sisters in Christ. Today I want to encourage you with Psalm 92 and pray it's a blessing and encouragement to you. Yep, I messed up but God knows my heart and I want to be real.  March on sisters and let's pray that we all strive to enter through the narrow gate. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13-14 Peace and blessings to you. Sister Deb The biblical gospel... https://www.dontperish.com/the-gospel.html

They Shall Teach Thee

Image
Good morning sisters in Christ, We were blessed with a beautiful, sun shining day, yesterday, we're sad to hear other parts of the country had some wicked weather though. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:45 Today I want to share the glory of God's creation. But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the  Lord  hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:7-10 Mankind can learn a lot just by examining the creation. We were blessed to witness the infinite creativity of our Father in the abilities He gave squirrels.  This one has been after the b

Blanket Walls for Insulating the Van

Image
Good evening sisters, I pray you are all fighting the good fight: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 We are also fighting our way through the various projects on our list!  Brother Jim is going to finish the generator box soon and I'll post that in a few days. I finished the blanket walls for the sides of the van. Yay! We tossed around the idea of putting up insulation and paneling but after experimenting in the cold weather while we were on the road, we noticed that blankets (even haphazardly put up) did a pretty good job.  Since the van walls are metal I was able to find heavy duty magnets with hooks to hang the blankets from.  (I used 2 fleece blankets on each wall for extra insulation.)  I then randomly attached the blankets to the walls with more magnets yet leaving air gaps between.   Edited to add: I sewed some magnets in between the

Thermal Cooking and Roof Top Storage

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for His gift of another day to serve Him. Some day it will be our last so let's be sure we use each one wisely and for His glory! Thine, O  Lord  is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O  Lord , and thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 Today is a simple keeper of the home post about my thermal cooker. Thermal cooking is like slow cooking but saves you power, in fact this thing has paid for itself many times over.  (I think they run $50-$60 but I got mine on sale for $45.  Either way the price is worth it.)  This one holds 3 quarts which is is a lot for us so I usually make just enough for a couple meals.  It's super sturdy, stainless steel and should last many years. You can cook all sorts of food in it but normally I do soup, usually something with potatoes and cabbage and then what

Peace, Projection and Perfection

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, Are you ready for a new change of season?  I was going to ask if you are ready for spring but some of you are in different parts of the world with another season coming upon you :-) We are thankful to be able to walk in the country around our land, it's peaceful. The gravel roads border almost the entire piece and there is virtually no traffic on them. (These gravel roads are pretty nice compared to some in the state.  Check out this one  here  I posted about.)   We are taking one day at a time and not getting anxious about anything.  With the powers in the world, doing what they do, we're going to have to improvise a bit in our travels which is perfect for what brother Jim's already planning for changes on the van.  I've been looking into some apps for trucker parking in case they shut down our normal parking spots.   And we have a new addition to the van. It's attached to the CB and brother Jim can preach t

Bags, Baseball Bats and Potholes

Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for another day, I pray yours was joyous in the Lord?  This morning I hand washed some clothes and we ran some errands.  Since we've been back at the Missouri homestead I've had a bit of a mess going on with various projects in different stages but I'm hoping to get them finished up soon.   As I was cleaning out the note app on my phone I came across a memo that I was going to share with you when we were on the road.  We'd traveled thousands of miles last year and saw many different cultures in this one big country, some of which were a bit unnerving.  Add to that the fact that when you are unfamiliar with a culture, it can cause 'culture shock' :-) until you get used to it or at least somewhat familiarized with it.  Then, when you go from one culture to another in short periods of time it can be overwhelming.  There were a few times brother Jim and I were commenting on the various types of cultures and how we don'

Are You Living for This Life or the Next?

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I pray you truly are standing strong in the Lord, His Word and not getting swept away with the cares of this world.  When we read Revelation and Daniel, we see the end times coming closer, add to that the issues going on right now.  Viruses and the governmental exploitation of them, 'talk' of volcanic activity in some areas, earthquakes and tornadoes leveling parts of cities, unscrupulous dealings with those in power and the list goes on and on.  It's simple to overlook a lot of that when it's not directly affecting us but when it touches our life and makes radical changes, we all have to be sure that we are looking to the Lord and not the news.  There's nothing wrong with checking to see what's going on in the world but I ask you to examine yourself to see if your joy is based on whether the latest issue is going to abide and everyone gets back to normal or is your joy based on the Lord no matter what?  If you watched the world an
