Obedient Godly Women of Old...Hannah

Good afternoon sisters!   I pray your day is going well and that you are standing on the precious Word of God, strong and steadfast!  Today I want to write about Hannah in 1 Samuel.  Let's read verses 1-5 1  Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: 2  And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 3  And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the  Lord  of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the  Lord , were there. 4  And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: 5  But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the  Lord  had shut up her womb. Obedient Godly Women of Old...Mary and Elisabeth

Greetings sisters in Christ, Today I want to look at a couple obedient godly woman of old, Mary and Elisabeth, the mother of Jesus and her cousin. I'm doing them both as they are tied together in scripture. I'm sure as I go through these women of old, there would be much more input if us sisters were sitting together sharing our perspectives but it's only me and I'll share what I have. In Luke 1 we see the God working through Zacharias and Elisabeth in the conception of John.  Note vs 6: And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless.  That's a mighty high commendation, one that I would strive for.  It says in the 6th month from the conception of John that an angel (Gabriel) was sent to Mary, who was espoused to Joseph. 28  And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29  And when she saw him, she wa

Obedient Godly Women of Old...Dorcas (Tabitha)

Greetings sisters in Christ! Today let's look at another Godly woman of old...Dorcas (Tabitha).  It's a short account but profound. 36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. 37  And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38  And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39  Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40  But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she s

Obedient Godly Women of Old....Ruth

Greetings sisters! I pray you are all standing strong today?! I thought it would be good to take a look at the godly women of old to gain encouragement from their obedience or learn from their mistakes. I won't go into great detail on the books themselves and the theology within them, but just examine the lives of the women and learn from them. The first on I want to start with is Ruth because she was a great encouragement to me as a new believer.  As we read through the book of Ruth we see that Naomi lost both her husband and two sons which left her and her two daughters in law.  She encourages both Ruth and Orpah to go back to their families: And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the  Lord  deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me. Ruth 1:8 We see that they were kind to their mother in law yet Orpah decides to go back to her people and this is what Naomi says to Ruth: And she said, Behold, thy s
