Hand Sewing A Tunic

Image
Greetings to my Titus 2 sister saints! Brother Jim and I took some time to make a couple videos on men's tunics, how to buy the materials and sew / modify them by hand.  You can find the videos HERE on our main ministry website. I hope to have a full sewing (by machine) video to add to it, soon, and will let you know when it's there. (Just an FYI, godly men should dress in tunics just like godly women should dress in long, unadorned dresses with headcoverings.  To do otherwise is sinful and one is a transgressor of the law.)  We've had a lot of requests from men on this subject so praise God, it seemed like now is a great time to do it all.  We pray it is a blessing to those who are seeking to be biblical in all ways. May God be praised in all our works unto Him sisters.  We saints, born from above, are here to do His works, sharing the GOSPEL that brings life and to shine our light unto those on the outside so they may see and come into the light.  Veril...

How to Modify A Shirt (with video)

Image
Good day sisters!   Maybe it's morning when you read this:-)  A sister saint (thank you) made this picture (and one below) and I thought it was a good greeting for you all.  I'm thankful to be able to have some time to do some Titus 2 duties: sewing projects and get ready for our next trek down the road, Lord willing.   I made a couple videos of of my sewing that I thought might be helpful to some of you.  The first one is a quick way to make a large neck on a shirt, smaller so that it doesn't bag out on you. Next I have a longer video that shows how I modified a few different things on a shirt that I got from the thrift store.  It was too big for blogger to put here so it's in our ministry page HERE .  For those who don't have a sewing machine, they can be purchased for a reasonable price or you can hand sew like I have done on the road.  (I've hand sewn brother Jim's tunics on the bed in the van, yep anything is possible:-) I'll...

Sewing A Pocket on a Shirt (Upcycling with Video)

Image
Greetings sister saints! Let's be thankful for this day and extra thankful for the blessing of health that allows us to fulfill our Titus 2 duties as godly women!  Praise God for creating us for good works... For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10) Let us walk in a manner worthy of our Savior's name. Ephesians 4:1-7  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift...

Sowing and Sewing

Image
Good day to my sisters who are all over the world! Just the other day brother Jim was telling someone how the saints  are scattered and I was thinking how awesome that is that God has His diligent workers sharing the truth in their part of this earth.  What a glorious God to allow us to first of all be partakers of this precious gift and second, give it out and be a light to those around us. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:2-4) I titled this sowing and sewing because both are important.  Without sewing we would be naked and without sowing we would...

Off Grid Living, Sewing and Dehydrating

Image
Good evening sisters! How was your day?  I thought I'd share a bit of my day with you.  I'm enjoying my Titus 2 duties on our homestead life for the short time we are here but it's all for preparation to go again. I hand washed more clothes then dug out my sewing machine to work on a few simple projects.   I had a shirt that I wanted to add a pocket to so I cut off a pocket from a junk shirt... And sewed it on.  Nope, the materials don't match and the color is a bit off but I don't care, I'm thankful to have a pocket:-) While I was out there I had a visitor:-) She kept coming and another one with some yearlings stopped by also.  It's hunting season here and I'm hoping they make it through.  (FYI we're not against hunting.) I had to take in the waist of a couple skirts so I decided to show you what I do. In between, something funny happened. And here I show you something else that might make you smile. I also thought I'd share a bit more about th...

Modify a Skirt Waist

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for every day we have to glorify our Father by being a living example of a transformed life, to those around us.  Let the word go out. This is just a quick post on how to modify a skirt waist, based on a conversation with a sister about finding clothes at thrift stores and modifying to fit us.  It's very easy to do and if you have a sewing machine you can do it in about 5 minutes.  It takes longer to set up the machine than it does to modify:-) See the picture below. (I'm not an artist:-) All you need to do is sew the corners of the skirt to take it in just enough that it won't fall off your hips.  Cut off the excess material and you are done!  It works best if you leave the skirt right side out so that you don't have a raw edge against you. Yep, it looks unfinished and yep, you may have a bulge there, yep it might make the skirt stick out a bit more in the hip area.  What do I say to that? If you are concerned ...

Sewing Tunics

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I hope your day is joyous in the Lord, giving Him thanks and glory!  For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the  Lord  of hosts. Malachi 1:11  I'm really enjoying this time here to catch up on all the things we've been wanting to do and homestead projects.   I dug out my sewing machine and sewed Jim some tunics....the easy way:-)  All I do is take one of his shirts and add an extension on the bottom.  The extension is the bottom of another shirt that we got on sale at the thrift store.  No the colors don't match but that's whats so great about my husband....he doesn't care and has taught me to be the same way.  It's clothing to cover our body and we should be thankful for it. You...

Hand Sewing and Humbleness

Image
Good day sisters! Today I want to share a humbling Titus 2 story to encourage you:-) Brother Jim decided that he wanted extra long shirts to make them a more tunic length for extra coverage (biblically) and because we cannot find such things while traveling, (it's even hard to find them on the internet) I decided to take things into my own hands...literally! He wears basically the same kind of shirt and has several of them so I took one and cut off several inches from the bottom and hand sewed it to the bottom of another shirt.  It's not hard to do but takes quite a while and it looks hand sewn but that's one of the things I love about brother Jim.  HE DOESN'T CARE!  It could have a crooked seams and be uneven between the front and back (just like the shirt I did :-) and he's just thankful to have it!  Just seeing his attitude in such menial things has helped me get over myself in many areas that don't matter!   Hand sewing this shirt (and I wil...

Sewing on a Button and Not Taking Anything for Granted

Image
Greetings sisters! We are praising God for allowing us to make it to our Wisconsin destination safely.  We must make sure we never take for granted even one day that He gives us to serve Him! Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.     (Ephesians 2:11-13) Let us remember that it wasn't long ago (God has no timing) that we were sinners and now through the blood of Christ we are saints if we are born again in Christ Jesus, so who are we to take anything for granted but instead be always thankful.    And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in t...
