But He Was Asleep

Image
Good evening sister soldiers! Soon we will be heading off to bed for the night, hopefully for an evening of sleep, to rest up for what may come tomorrow.  Every night I lay down, I'm thankful for the day I had to serve the Lord, it's one more day of me being a daughter of the Most High God and one less of me (not anymore) being a wicked sinner.  Praise God. Evening is one of my favorite times, the older I get, because we get to rest from the events of the day and even if I can't sleep, I get to just stop and 'be' His.   I know some of you struggle with sleep being elusive at times, as with me and has been for many years, but that's okay because some day we won't have to worry about that will we? And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:5 I'm humbled when I think of the trials our Savior went through, to do what He did fo

Heat Pads Help

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I know for a fact there are some of you who suffer from physical ailments and do what you can to get through the rough days.  You probably already know about heat pads but I thought I'd do a quick review on the one I have in case you're wanting to get one.  Heat pads are great for sore muscles or reducing inside inflammation and they are awesome to just keep you warm on a cold day:-)  I use my heat pads pretty much every single day and I'm so thankful for them because they make my days easier to get through. I have an older Sunbeam that works great and gets hot, really fast. Since it was so old I wanted to have a back up so I did my research and finally found one that was similar and it's even bigger. (No I'm not getting any money doing this, I'm just sharing personal testimony so that it might help others.) This one is so big I can lay on it and it reaches from my neck to my lower backside and it gets hot:-)  Some don

Greetings sisters in Christ! How have you been doing in the Lord?   And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;   Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 Praise God for providing us food and clothing with an added bonus of a shelter from the elements!  But godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.    And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8 If we thank God for food and clothing, that brings us down to the basics and we remember that we deserve nothing good, but our Father is merciful to provide! Today I want to share with you an easy idea to help inflammation.  I've shared in the past how I used to be all bent out of shape trying to figure how to heal the issues I have and over time have realized that is impossible so I ditched all the herbs

Ramen Noodles Won't Kill You!

Image
Good evening sisters! I just wanted to make a quick post and share some good news with you... Ramen Noodles Won't Kill You! Some of you might not understand so I'll explain.  In America, the foodie people will do everything they can to get you to stop eating pasta, especially ramen noodles, claiming that they are unhealthy and lead to illness. (Ramen noodles are very inexpensive and quick to cook.  They are considered 'poor people's food.) I used to follow all that hype, thinking that high fiber and raw foods were what would keep people from illness but I was wrong because it was part of the cause of my problems (for me anyway.)  Today we eat plain old pasta, even Ramen noodles, without guilt and are just fine. Let me share an example of what I just bought by stacking coupons... 2 Ramen noodle bowls 2 Pre-cooked rice packagaes 1 Can of chicken and wild rice soup 2 Bananas Total $7.34 and I paid $1.49 There are many tutorials on the web about cou

Loaves and Fish and the Miracle of Sustaining Us

Greetings sisters! We have made it to our current destination for the night and are thankful as we've had some very eventful days.  I'm always going about my keeper at home duties even in our little, rolling down the highway home and just yesterday brother Jim stepped into my Titus 2 territory and found us a great deal! :-)  We were walking through the store and he spotted a big piece of fresh salmon marked down to an awesome deal. I had just told him the day before that it would be great to find an affordable piece as it would be something healthy to add to our diet, not to mention a big treat for us. We were pretty excited so I fried it up... Normally, in cooler weather, I just cook in the van but since it was nice out and I didn't really want the fish smell in the van, I set up outside in a private part of the parking lot.  Here's the shot of our temporary back yard... It doesn't look like much but it's priceless to us to have a bit of privac

A Blessing in Vitamin C

Greetings sisters in the Lord, I pray today brings you peace and joy as we have the hope of eternal life.  What an awesome foundation we have to reset our minds when the woes of the world overtake us. But now being made free from sin, and  become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Romans 6:22-23) Lately brother Jim and I have been battling a vicious sickness and finally we seem to be breaking through to the other side.  I thought I would share this story with you.... Last week brother Jim said " You know, we have to be prepared for the fact that one of us might get really sick and while living in the van, that could really stretch us ."  We talked about our options and then said the Lord will provide us a way to get through it. Well, the other day we stopped at a little dent and bent discount grocery store and

Blast From My Past....Making Simple Lip Balm

Image
Good evening sisters, I found another post from my past blog that I'll share with you here: ********************************************* Making lip balm can seem intimidating because if you go on the internet and start searching you are bound to find hundreds of recipes.  We like simplicity so I chose to find the least uncomplicated method using quality products. This lip balm uses 3 ingredients: 5 teaspoons oil 3 teaspoons beeswax 6-10 drops of essential oil (your choice) I used olive oil and infused it with calendula to add nourishing properties to it.  All I did was cover dry calendula flowers with oil and let sit for 6 weeks, strain and use. To make lip balm you simply add the beeswax to the oil and warm it (while stirring) until the wax melts.  Try not to heat the oil any more than necessary to get the wax to melt. Tip: I use a discarded (clean) tin can to make this so that I can just toss it out when done because it is VERY DIFFICULT to clean containers after

Blast From My Past...Skin Healing Salve

Image
Greetings sisters, I found another post from my old homestead blog that you might like. ********************************* Living out in the country affords us the opportunity to obtain many skin issues such as cuts, scrapes, bites, rashes etc so instead of suffering we've decided to combat it using God's herbs He so graciously provided mankind.  It's amazing what simple things like leaves, roots or flowers can do to help heal a body. One of our 'go to' salves is what we call the skin salve.  Simple name for a simple salve because that's what it's for.  It's not complicated to make but with anything it takes some time but oh so worth it! I recommend people use dry herbs when infusing with oil as using fresh can result in molded salves.  (Ask me how I know:-) This is the recipe we like best as it helps all sorts off skin issues.  We've had many testimonies from people who are amazed at what it can do...we of course give all the glory to Go

Blast From My Past....Homemade Muscle Rub Salve

Image
Greetings again sisters! I found this in my old homestead blog and wanted to share it with you.  I hope it is a help to you:-) ********************************* As we live our daily lives there are times we need some pain relief (more often than not:-).   I enjoy making this salve because it's such a pretty color when warm and it really works to soothe aching muscles and tension. INGREDIENTS: * 1 cup Arnica flowers * 4 heaping teaspoons cayenne pepper (the more the better) * Olive oil * Vitamin E * Beeswax * Tea Tree oil * Essential Oil (your choice) To start you will need a large glass container.  Put in your herbs in the jar.  I don't have measurements because it all depends on how much oil you want to make however much salve you need.  If you want to make a big batch, use a big jar, if you want just a couple tins of salve, then use a very small jar.  Cover the herbs with oil so the oil is a few inches over the top of the herbs.  Let it sit 6 weeks and gent
