Godly Women are Gazing Stock for God, But Glorifying Him
We hope this article is an encouragement for godly, set apart sisters who have been transformed by the gospel and have sumbitted themsleves to obedience in God's Word. You are not alone!
A godly woman has a great role in the commission of Christ in various forms whether it be helping a godly husband, helping a biblical body, ministering to the elder, witnessing the gospel when the opportunity opens and most of all your witness in how you act, dress and cover yourself in obedience to God's Word.
We have articles on how godly women should act, dress and cover themselves on our ministry site (run by my husband and brother Jim) take your husband or spiritual authority there to learn about these commands.

If you are obediently following the commands in God's Word to dress and cover then it doesn't take long for you to realize just how much of a gazing stock you are, especially if you are in an area where there are very few (or none) others doing it.
No matter where you go you will notice people either doing a double take, sneaking looks, boldly staring or in many cases glaring at you. Have you noticed that quite often it is the women of the world that hate you?
Have you experienced standing in line at the grocery store and the check out person being very jovial to the person ahead of you only to be quiet and almost rude when it's your turn?
How about when you walk by a worldly woman and smile and/or say hello at her and she just glares at you?
Have you noticed women of the world try to cover up the nakedness they were just exposing, when they walk by you?
Have you heard women of the world either talk about you or laugh at you?
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so persecuted the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:10-12)
Let it be no surprise ladies if you are persecuted for Christ's sake for our master suffered first for us and we should be honored to be a light to the world against the darkness of sin.
A godly woman who is biblically dressed and covered, with a manner of a shamefaced, quiet, meek and joyful spirit will blind the world with God's truth without even saying a word. Her biblical obedience and witness stand for:
*Purity in a world of vileness
*Shamefacedness in a world of pride
*Purity in a world of lasciviousness
*Submission in a world of feminism
*Meekness in a world of arrogance
*Quietness in a world of boldness
*Chaste in a world of nakedness
We will be brutally honest here and say that if you are struggling with people staring at you, feeling out of place, worried about what people will think, could there be pride and vanity inside you? Probably before you were in Christ you wore clothing, jewelry, makeup etc that would capture people's attention for sinful reasons (pride, vanity etc) now you should rejoice that you can capture people's attention because you have died to your old self and now represent Christ!
Now, have you noticed the difference in treatment from men? Most men act respectful toward a chaste, pure, godly woman as there is nothing sexual to see (hair and body are covered) so what they see is the 'inner man' as 1 Peter 3 tells us to expose. They see a woman who fears and respects the Lord, covers herself up for God and her husband and is not out exposing her sexuality to men. They will also see a quiet mannered, meek and gentle woman; the opposite of what they are used to dealing with in this world.
Without saying a word, a godly woman is speaking volumes to the world with her life witness; this is not to say that a woman cannot speak the word of God as women can definitely proclaim the gospel and oftentimes her living witness will bring about the opportunity to do so.
What a joyous job women have for the Lord! And remember the next time you are uncomfortable being a gazing stock....people are gazing at the glorious transformation the Lord has done to you and you are a physical beacon of what He stands for.
Remember, godly women, do not dress this way to draw attention or to make ourselves look holy, or to earn righteousness; godly women dress biblically out of obedience because God's Word tells them to.
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad!
May God be praised!
