Good Food, Gross Ticks and Praises for a Brother
Good evening sisters!
I hope your day was joyous in the Lord and if not, I pray you have a peacefilled evening and that tomorrow your joy will return.
Press on sisters, to the mark set before us and soon this fading world will be nothing compared to where we will spend eternity. Sometimes it's hard when you are in the midst of trials or tests but as the Word says, we will face them and be refined on the other side. The joy of the Lord is our strength amen? Nehemiah 8:10
I like to always put in encouragement for those who might be struggling and I'm sure there are plenty of you that need uplifting as I know there are days I do as well. We who have no struggles in this day need to be there for those who do as maybe tomorrow we may need them ourselves.
I don't have a lot going on to share tonight but I really felt led to share something as I often think that sometimes it's not necessarily 'what' is said but that someone cares enough to reach out and say something and let others know they are not alone!
I snapped a few pics the other day as brother Jim is always saying 'Hey that would be good for your sisters blog', so here they are leading to a simple update.
Yup, that's a pile of (American) change, we have a metal can in our van that we toss our change into and cash it out a couple times a year. I was sorting it out to separate the quarters for washing clothes and it made me think of how many years back a penny was worth so much more than it is today. People just toss change out like it's worthless but every small amount adds up to a lot over time. I remember years back when grocery stores would have bins that people could put their extra coupons in and I would stand there digging through big piles of them and then turn around and walk through the stores using them and at that time there were a few stores doing double coupons. My children were taught to wait patiently while I did this and we would come out of the store with a cart of groceries costing virtually nothing. At that time I had to do such things because every penny counted and if I didn't count them we didn't eat. Today, I still do the same and am careful about the resources the Lord has given us.
I tell brother Jim that I can't have a garden anymore while we are living this life of traveling to preach the gospel but I can harvest great deals....what I call the kings crumbs :-)
So as we were coming back to our place in Wisconsin to finish working on it we stopped by our local Dent and Bent store:
And I'm pleased with the next one....vegetable pasta! I've been wanting to find some and it's made from tomato, beet and spinach powders. (I bought quite a few to bring on the road with us.) I tossed in some peas and a can of salmon and topped it with some parmesan cheese. I also found organic sauer kraut, fermented beets and pickles. We were super hungry that night as we've been working hard on the house lately so this was a filling meal for cheap.
I told brother Jim they were dent and bent dinners because every single thing came from there!
I know these stores are not everywhere so not everyone can experience the savings but even when we travel I always find great deals at regular stores, it just takes time and some investigation as well as stocking up when you find discounts and simply eating what's on sale or discounted.
Also, I would venture to guess that most of you sisters don't travel like we do and can take the time to cook some things from scratch which saves a lot of money as well. I used to make all our own bread, pasta, spice mixes, grew everything in the garden, canned, froze, dried it etc. I made all natural cleaning and hygeine products as well as salves, tinctures etc. You all have to pick your battles in what you spend your time vs money on; sometimes we decide that spending some money is worth it because our time is more valuable right then. I find it fun to share some of these good deals we find because in our life, it is just my way of doing the best I can in my keeper of the (rolling) home job :-) I'm very thankful for what the Lord provides for us.
We have been doing a lot of cleaning and painting around here and I stupidly wrecked a decent skirt without thinking that I should not have worn it painting because I ALWAYS end up with paint all over me no matter how hard I try. In this instance I was working in the bathroom when I didn't realize that I was dragging my skirt across what I just painted. Oh well, it's a work skirt now!
Here's something encouraging, we have a brother in the Lord that lives in Missouri (he's going through a LOT of trials) and we see him as we travel through the area. Well the other day he told us that he used to always need to be around people even if they weren't biblical and now since he's repented of that and he's on his own and he's growing in the Lord tremendously. He said he never thought he could have this much joy being on his own and that he's growing more now than he did the past 13 years! I was rejoicing to hear that because we constantly hear people complaining about not having anyone around them but the joy of the Lord in this man is amazing. The Lord is our strength, not other people...let us remember that sisters.
Hey, I have to share this video with you...it's a tick.
Not sure if you all know what those are but they are little instects that latch on to you and suck your blood. When you remove them, they leave a welt on your skin that itches really bad that can last for almost a month. Some types of them can also carry a dangerous disease called "lymes', which I had years ago. It took me a looooooong time to gain my strength back, I've never totally healed from it and sometimes I have flare ups that set me back. We have a lot of these ticks around our place here especially this time of they year. I thought some of you might find it interesting if it's not something you ever saw before.
It's just another one of those earthly issues we need to deal with but praise God we will be set free from things like this some day:-)
So that's all I have today sisters. I hope you have a joyous day tomorrow, I look forward to what it will bring!
Have peacefilled evening and set your eyes on things above, knowing that if we endure we will have a place with our Lord and Savior for all of eternity.
Love in Christ,
Sister Deb

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

...and found some great deals. In fact the next two pictures are of our dinner the next couple nights with everything coming from the dent and bent. It's funny because the night before, a brother in the Lord told us he had tacos for dinner and it made us hungry for them, well the dent and bent store had all the ingredients for a super price so brother Jim was pretty happy about that!
