Storms, Sunsets and Good Works

Greetings in the Lord's name, to our Christian sisters!

Praise God we have been having safe travels even through some wicked storms.  I've included a couple videos of them here.  God's power is amazing.

We have been blessed with some awesome sunsets of which we cannot see when we are at a homestead because of the trees.  I love to see the wide open skies, it shows me how big our Father really is.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Revelation 22:13

Even though our 'home' for the night is parking lots, we look past that to the glory of our Father and He always gives us something of nature to see and rest our eyes on.

When I saw these flowers I thought of my sisters:-)

We had to travel to a carving job and on the way we saw this doe with her 2 fawns. (Then as we passed we saw a family of cranes in the bushes but I couldn't get a good picture.)  God's creation is so lovely and pure.

Here's a picture of the job we did.  Their stump was pretty high so brother Jim had to cut some off, then debark it and sculpt it.  The eagle was carved at our shop and we put it up there and finished the stump with their house numbers.

We were blessed because not only was it a good job to do but  the people were very nice.  We are so thankful that the onsite jobs we do have been with people who are very down to earth and easy to work for.

As we were working there were storms coming (those videos I shared with you above) and we got out of there with only 20 minutes to spare.  Praise God we made it to a town to hole up and wait it out.  Enduring through all the rain we have encountered the past few months has been a trail but teaches us to kill our flesh and that this world is not about us.

He makes a way for us, whether it goes the way we want it to, OR it might not be such a nice way but He wants us to learn something from it.  We ALL have areas in our life that we struggle through and fight in our flesh but we must remember that it's all for His glory and in the end our reward awaits.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:27

Do you ever wonder about your works and if you should be doing more?

Quite often we overlook the many areas of obedience that we should do each day as our reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2) and instead seek for something more notable to do.

In my youth (in the Lord) I wanted to be like Jim, out boldly preaching the gospel, actively pursuing people to contend with etc.  I wanted to go do volunteer work helping people, donating money to good causes etc.  But as I learned the Word and the roles of a woman, the evangelist part of me died and I put it under submission to God's word and now let the men do what they are called to do. (Women can, in a careful way, be sharing the word of God, but the bold preaching, teaching, proclaiming, contending areas are left to the men.)

I also investigated these 'ministries' and found that every one that we were involved with were ecumenical and taught a false, incomplete gospel that will lead people not to the kingdom of heaven but leave them on the wide road to destruction.  And volunteer work is really tricky to do because oftentimes it's impossible to share the truth of God and therefore it becomes just good works of the flesh that can be a distraction to our own walk and satan can use it to lead us astray.

What I learned is that it is a big thing for women to kill the flesh that gets led astray seeking for more and instead we should be seeking the quality of what we are already in and called to do.

God would rather we do an excellent job in our daily lives controlling our flesh, submitting to those in authority over us, keeping more silent, focusing on the tasks and responsibilities in our life, being an obedient godly woman in all areas...than seeking something that we feel is more noble.

I had to learn all that the hard way and we have warned sisters of this but many disobey and their lives are heading in a slow slide in the wrong direction.  Beware sisters, satan can use what looks like good and godly things to pull us away from the simplicity in Christ.

We are getting ready to move down the road for the day and I look forward to who the Lord might put in our path today.

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4

Have a joyous day sisters,
Sister Deb
