He That Spareth His Rod Hateth His Son

Greetings sisters!
We are praising God for being in the right place at the right time!  Halelujah!

This morning brother Jim was planning for us to stand outside of a religious place but changed his mind and said we will go fishing / work online with our bible out and praise God, some fish walked right in and over to our table!  A man and 6 young teen boys walked up and said they were from a religious organization and they were out for the day asking people questions and listening to their answers.  They asked brother Jim a few light faith based questions and then were going to leave but he gave them all a gospel card.  As they left, Jim went outside to talk to them further and was able to verbally share the gospel and show them the false teachings and lies of man made religion. Seeds were sown this morning and we are thankful to be used of the Lord.  Brother Jim said 'that's why we live in a van, so we can be out here in the world.'

Yesterday we were in a parking lot when a man and wife drove up.  He said he noticed our signs and liked them which led to brother Jim discussing truth with him.  Long story short he said he evangelizes by teaching people to box / fight. Brother Jim tried to show him the errors of his ways (he had more issues than that) but the guy got upset and drove off.

We see both ends of the spectrum while out here in the world.  Another thing we see is unruly children who are ruling their parents.  It's not uncommon for me to walk into Walmart in the evening and buy some fruit or supplies and while I'm in there I see very young children (2, 3, 4 yrs old) wandering around by themselves or bossing their parents around by not holding hands, running into the aisles or even the streets outside the doors.  Brother Jim just shared that yesterday he saw a big man 6"1" or so being bossed around by a very small child and yesterday I saw a 3-4yr old girl get mad at her father and sit right in the aisle with her arms crossed glaring at him.  Instead of being disciplined he picked her up and carried her, giving her just what she wanted...power over her father.

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. (Isaiah 3:12)

This is what we see...women and children ruling men.

God's Word says that He disciplines who He loves.

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
(Hebrews 12:6-7)
And we are told if we love our children we will discipline them:

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

The world says 'Spare the rod spoil the child.'  That sounds soft doesn't it? God's word says if we spare it we HATE him.  Love=discipline, hate=not disciplining.

This can be a hard thing for a woman because she can be moved in her heart toward compassion quicker than a man.  I was not born again when raising our children and I know how easy it can be to be a pushover for big, teary eyes claiming to be sorry and saying 'I wuv you mommy' just to get out of discipline.  Father's don't normally fall for that, they go though with the punishment and children know that.

We are from Wisconsin where there are many Amish groups. Although they have a lot of unbiblical teachings in their Amish denomination we do commend their training of children.  They teach them from very young to obey their parents and elders and those children are not unruly, stand quietly and work hard alongside their parents.

Following through in discipline is very important in raising children lest they learn how to manipulate you and others throughout their life and are allowed to get their way, have power over you (and others) and fulfill the lust of their flesh.

If you have young children, you must learn consistent discipline and follow through each and every time.

I cannot go back and raise our children over in the admonition of the Lord but I can encourage you to do so.

I hope this helps strengthen you because God's Word is true.

"He that spareth the rod, hateth his son."

Love in Christ,
Sister Deb
