Wonderful Days of Witnessing

Greetings sisters,

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Proverbs 16:2)

Let all our works be done with a transformed, pure heart for the Lord.  Our works won't get us into heaven, they are fruit of a transformed life, one that truly loves the Lord is obedient.

I thought it might be encouraging to share how the gospel went out the past few days.  I don't do this to boast, I do it so you can be a part of it in a small way, praying for those who have been affected, that they repent and come to the truth.

The other night we were taking our evening walk and while going through the produce section a woman came up behind me and asked about my headcovering.  I explained that we don't belong to a group and that we simply follow the Word of God as believers and headcovering is biblical, of which she agreed.  (She didn't look like a Christian woman who follows the word obediently.)  We encouraged her to read the gospel tract I gave her and then contact us as we would like to help her....she drove off in her little cart, not wanting to hear anymore.

Then yesterday started out with us heading into the store to buy something.  As we got to the area we needed to go, a woman came up behind me, saw my headcovering and asked what church we belonged to.  She said at one time she used to cover but the group they belonged to did not support it so she stopped. You can listen to it here.

As you notice, I answered her a bit then brother Jim stepped in and finished it off, directing it toward having her husband reach out to discuss more.  We get accused of not talking to women, that's simply not true.  We are careful to follow scripture and if a woman claiming Christ is married or is under the spiritual headship of a man, he needs to be involved.  We pray she and her husband go deeper in the Word and are here to help them if they reach out.  (You can see by these 2 incidents that being a godly woman is a visual witness and brings opportunities to share the truth.)

We then went outside for a walk in the beautiful sunshine and cool weather.  As we rounded a corner we saw a homeless man sitting on the corner so brother Jim went to share the gospel with him and offer our phone number if he needs help getting off the streets.  They usually like it there and we've never gotten one phone call in all these years...but we keep trying.

When we were done, brother Jim said it was time to go downtown to the busy strip area with our signs and preach the life saving gospel to the world.

As we were walking to the busy area we saw a police officer driving by so brother Jim stopped him, gave him a gospel tract and told him what we would be doing.  He had no problem with it.

We then walked to a busy corner and it was only a short time before people would not walk by that corner so we moved across the street to reach more.  It wasn't long after that a shop owner called and lied to the police saying we were chasing people down the sidewalks.  The officer saw us doing no such thing and said we were just fine, not breaking any laws.  Not long after 2 more officers joined and they all 3 stood in the distance watching.

Brother Jim walked over to verify again that there were no laws being broken and they agreed saying they just have to check out every complaint they receive.  Brother Jim said that to be peaceful we would go to another corner, which we did.  Not long after that we were harassed by some of the shop owners telling us to move on and the ironic thing was, one of them was saying she was a missionary...but telling us to get out of there because we were making their town look bad by preaching about the things of God.

Let me interject something here.  We are in what people call the 'bible belt' in a big city that is well known all over the country for being a 'so called Christian town' and they pride themselves on being 'Christian'.   (It's a worldly carnal city of fleshly indulgences, blaspheming our Savior by calling it clean Christian entertainment.)

We went from corner to corner, holding our signs with brother Jim lifting his voice to preach the life giving gospel.  Of course we had the usual mockers, scoffers and satanic reactions but we were not deterred because there were plenty of people walking up to take a gospel card.

I hold my sign and then have gospel cards in my hand, when people walk by I hold one out and if they want one, they walk over and take it, if not they pass by.  We don't get in anyone's face, we don't harass, we don't follow or chase anyone.

There was one corner that turned out to be the perfect spot at the perfect time.  Two young men were walking by and I simply held my hand out with a couple tracts in it, while I was holding my sign toward the street.  They each took a card and stood on the corner reading it out loud, both front and back.  The light kept them there for a while so I turned around and told them that Jim would love to hear from them if they had any questions. They both smiled, thanked me and looked over at brother Jim.  The light turned green for them to go and off they went, both tucking the tracts into their shirt pockets.

I rarely say a word when we are out street witnessing, even if it's a woman because 99% of the time they just want to cut me off from Jim and tell me I can have 'freedom in Christ'.  Meaning I should walk around looking like a harlot like them and being a feminist....like I used to be before being transformed.  At one point today a woman shot back feminist comments at Jim while he was preaching and then later in the day she came back by saying to her husband (in a loud voice) that I was a prisoner.  Her husband shooed her on down the sidewalk.

Today we went back there again, standing on the busy corner at a 4 way stop in the middle of the busy town square where the string of cars never stopped and people walked by continuously.  Brother Jim street preached again and I handed out cards to anyone interested.

The most up front controversy we had was a man walking by saying that we belong in jail, so brother Jim preached about hell being like jail but for eternity and with weeping and gnashing of teeth, it made that man mad enough to walk back and almost side swipe me.  We saw a lot of people wearing Trump hats and brother Jim preached about how politics won't save you, Trump won't save you etc...and boy that made those men mad.  We thought one was going to come right back and give Jim a piece of his mind or his fist.  And of course we had the feminists spewing their retorts while their husbands ran along beside them.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (John 1:5)

We rejoice because many people walked by, reaching out for a gospel card.  At one point there was a very elderly man who tottered across the busy street, walked up to me and asked for a card.  After he got it he made his way back across the street and sat down on a bench to listen for the next hour before he got up and walked on down the sidewalk.  We also saw lurkers...people who want to watch and hear what you have to say but don't want to get involved.  Many people driving by rolled down their windows to hear and we could see some get convicted, nodding their heads, some waved and smiled.

The light shone into the darkness and God was glorified!

We walked back across the town to our van which was parked in a public parking lot by a river.  As brother Jim was doing something in the back of the van I was looking out the front window and saw a bunch of ducks and geese by the water.  I thought to myself that I would love to walk over and feed them some bread but we needed to get down the road while we still had some daylight.  As we were about to leave the parking lot I told Jim I killed my flesh in wanting to go see them and he insisted that we have plenty of time and told me to walk up there by them.  Here's a video he took of me feeding them....

And here's a video I took up close to show how beautiful they are.  (I didn't realize I was moving the phone so fast, sorry.)

I was so thankful for that experience, it was a nice gift of peace.

Please pray that those who were impacted today, have ears to hear and the seeds fell on some fertile soil.

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:  But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
(Matthew 13:3-9)

Have a joyous day tomorrow.

God be praised!

Love in Christ,
