A Testimony Against The Liars

Greetings sisters!
I hope you are joyous in the Lord today!  This morning we were talking about the witnessing that has been going on and brother Jim mentioned how different it is in this part of the country.  We noted that up north and out west there are more people who come up to us to talk while we're in the marketplace (you can read about that here:      )  or while are by our van with our signs on.  It wasn't too long after that a man beggar man walked up to our door asking for money.  (Good timing huh? :-)

Brother Jim got out and talked to him and I thought you might be interested in hearing a quick witnessing episode...

When he walked up to our van, he was very nice saying in a meek and gentle voice "Sir, do you have any change you could spare?  I'm just looking for a bit of change, could you help me out...." but it wasn't long, his true colors came out and he was walking away angry.  He was revealed as a hypocrite using God's name to get some money!

(Tons of beggars hang out at Walmart on the corners and walking through the lot.)

We noticed a pattern of beggars playing off the name of God.  They claim to be born again (like that guy) and they say they are drawn to us because of the signs on our van, they walk by our table and look at the bible and start a conversation agreeing with the Word, they see how we are dressed or they are flying signs with God's name on it.  (Beggars call it 'flying signs' when they hold signs for money.)

I'm seeing a dichotomy in the preaching of God's Word.  On one hand the gospel good news is preached to the lost and perishing, in hopes of calling them to repentance and shining the light to the sheep.  On the other hand (and we see this more often) is the word of God being a 'testimony against them.'

And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
Matthew 10:18

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Mark 6:11

I used to focus on the lost and the good news being proclaimed, which is glorifying to God when one sinner repents.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Luke 15:7

But I'm now seeing the other side more clearly, that it's also glorifying to God when the Word is given out as a testimony 'against' those who are blaspheming his name whether it be false teachers or those liars who claim to be of Christ and are not.

As we go into the end times and the falling away gets worse (2 Thessalonians 2:3), we will see the Word being more of a death blow to the lying hypocrites and haters of God.  What used to make me sad, emboldens me more...for the glory of God.  It also makes me see that our end (brother Jim and I) could be at the hands of those haters who are exposed.

Praises to God, let His word do what it does and we will continue to be diligent workers.

Have a joyous rest of the day.

Love in Christ,
Sister Deb
