A Biscuit Blessing and Peculiar People
Greetings sisters!
As I lay my head down in the evening, I look back on my day thank the Lord for allowing me to live until the end of it and then ask, His will be done, that I have another one in which to do better. I love it as the sun rises and washes the land with it's brightness, making for a fresh new day. What went on the day before is now behind until we lay our head down and do it all over again. As a babe in Christ I saw the correlation between night and day; we sleep like as in death and we wake as in life. Each and every day is a reminder of life and death, we must choose this day whom we will serve.
Praise God He gave us another day and this one started out sunny but pretty chilly as the temps have been dipping down at night. We each have a little 400 watt heater we put right next to us while we're working and they do pretty good unless the temps dip lower than 30. (We don't run any heat at night while we're sleeping.) We do have a heater that's a little bigger that we dig out when it is really cold.

Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

We don't always stay at Walmart because there are other places that welcome overnight parkers and one of our new favorites is Cracker Barrel because we can usually plan for a quiet night.
We rarely eat out but this morning brother Jim went in to buy 4 of their awesome biscuits and some ice, sort of like a rent payment to park there. He walked back out with the ice and these...
(I admit there are times I miss baking :-)
Jim said that the woman wasn't sure how to ring up just ice and biscuits so she talked to the manager who said they would be no charge. That was very kind of them and of course the gospel went out. Needless to say our breakfast was greatly appreciated :-)
As we were taking a walk we saw this nice commercial brick building with various stores...
Looks like they took a long time to build it, one brick at a time. The sad thing is, it looks like it might have been built quite some time ago and over the years, lost the stores that were in it so many of the spaces are empty. It once was a thriving business location and slowly it dwindled to only a few left. Pretty similar concept to many of the people we meet who say they love Christ. They seem like they are thriving and then over time they dwindle to little and fall away. That's why we continue to reach out in all areas we can to encourage the few who are continuing to thrive and stay strong.
Peter says we are a peculiar people:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
1 Peter 2:9
The longer you walk in obedience, the more mature you are...the more peculiar you become to the world. We are like a foreigner visiting a country, we stand out, we are different, we don't do as the natives do and we follow a totally different leader. We see a lot of foreign workers while we travel and we see how they live their own culture within this culture. They adapt just enough to understand how to get through this foreign land, yet they are not entwined and yoked to it, then they go home after the season of work is finished. Soon we will be going home, if we endure faithfully to the end.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9
In the meantime, our travel here on this land is one where God has His people right where He wants them. You are where He has you, we are where he Has us and someday the brethren from all around the world, and days gone by, will meet in the next life.
Let us all strive for the glory of our Father and to hear...
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:23
I want to offer encouragement to those of you in the earlier stages of your walk, seeing your loved ones choose the path to destruction and trying to emotionally deal with it. It will get easier as time goes on, not because you care less about them, but because you care more about our Father. You keep your mind focused forward and not backward lest you become like Lot's wife, useless salt. I know, I've been there and learned the hard way so keep marching forward.
The more years you walk obediently, the more strength our Father will give you which helps us as we become more peculiar to this world. The woman and manager at Cracker Barrel thought it was a peculiar request to buy just ice and biscuits :-) how much more when we shine the light of Christ!
Have a joyous day my peculiar sisters!
Love in Christ,
Sister Deb
