A Few Feet Shy of Death

Greetings sisters in Christ!
I'm so thankful to be able to write this post to you, praise God for each and every day!  We recently witnessed an accident that could have turned out to be tragic.  We were sitting at a stop light in the left turn lane, waiting for the light to turn green as all the lights were red.  The cross traffic was going through the intersection when a big red truck went through at the same time a little car ran the red light.  He smashed into her front quarter panel, spinning him around full circle.

A second later a little boy's head popped up in the passenger window, the door opened and we shouted to stay in the car!  He jumped out and ran across the road and while he was running, I jumped out to check traffic and go to him.  Brother Jim jumped out and went to the car to see if the driver was okay.

The little boy (maybe 7 yrs old) was crying so hard, yelling 'My baby brother's in there!  My baby brother's in there!'  I tried to comfort him and he was slowly calming down when others from that town (who seemed to know him) came to offer their comfort.  I went right over to the car where brother Jim was talking on the phone, a woman driver and 2 little babies in the back seat, both on the side of the impact.

If that truck would have hit a few feet further back it would have been horribly tragic to either the woman who was driving or the two little babies in the back.
(Apparently the woman was on her phone when she ran the light because when brother Jim went over there she handed the phone to him and he consoled her mother who was on the other end.)

It was a heart wrenching time even when nobody was hurt, I can't imagine if there was death involved.  In the blink of an eye a life can be gone and our world can be turned upside down.  We pray that situations like this cause those involved, to seek more truth about this life and what's to come, having come so close to the end of it.

Things like that press us on even more, with an urgency, to share the truth of God with the world.  Ephesians 5 talks about how the days are evil and we are to redeem the time, it's a command not a suggestion.

We only get so much time on this earth and we need to be using all of it for the glory of God, not for our flesh because in flash, we will die and be before the Lord.

...prepare to meet thy God (Amos 4:4)

I'm thankful that in all our travels we have not seen more accidents but praise God if we do, we are prepared to give hope to anyone we can.

Have a safe and joyous evening sisters.

Love to the saints worldwide,
Sister Deb
