Can You Believe It's Almost June??? God's Timing
Greetings to our sisters in Christ!
Can you believe it's almost June and therefore we are approaching halfway through the year?!!!
Every year we see a deeper meaning to redeeming the time (Ephesians 5:16) because the days certainly are getting evil. We are thankful for all the witnessing opportunities and we see there are those out there who are seeking truth. There are lots of mockers and haters but we don't let that discourage us and we are always revitalized when we meet those who have a spiritual spark going inside them. We are back around the land for a few days before we head back out through the midwest heading northward, Lord willing, then from there who knows. There are a few places that we are hoping to be through the summer but we're not sure what will happen and we'll be led by the spirit and God's timing always works out. Speaking of which you can listen to our latest Married and int the Word called Looking for God's Timing if you haven't seen it on the discernment blog.
The other day when I was in the grocery store I saw this man who works at the store, in a scooter chair pushing a broom. He drove up and down the aisles pointing the broom, keeping the floors clean.
Brother just recently saw a trucker walk all the way across a large parking lot, limping badly but carrying a big load on his shoulder to his truck. The man did it twice. Before we left, Jim went over to talk to him and found out he had cerebral palsy most of his life and has to work twice as hard as others but it was a driving factor in his determination to do what he could do. I share these examples with you, and these are just a couple that we see of many, because we see that the will of a human can overcome much and how much more if we are in Christ.
We saw that sign 'Do what makes you happy'...yep, that's what the world does, and what we did before we were in Christ. We encourage people to examine their lives like the bible says in (2 Corinthians 13:5) to see if they are living for themselves or if they are living for the Lord and the body of Christ.
While we were in that store we saw this old fashioned seed bin:
Once again I'm reminded how fast times flies as I recall in my youth, such things as this. Do any of you remember the big wooden barrels that were filled with things like beans, peas, rice, flour...all sorts of dry goods? You take the scooper and dish out what you wanted into a paper bag to be weighed up by the old fashioned register (the kind that you have to punch each button hard) like the old time typewriters. In this modern world they fill a huge machine, set it's computerized course and it can plant and take care of all the harvest, which in my mind sort of removes the glory from God because it's overlooked. Whereas when you have to get down and get dirty, toiling in the soil, you appreciate every single little vegetable or fruit that God has so graciously grown for you to harvest. (No I'm not saying it's sinful for large factory farming.)
Okay, since we're talking about old fashioned and I've dated myself, do you know what this is?
I guess it's pretty self explanatory but it's an old fashioned hand powered beater. You could also call it a fun item for a grandchild to play with:-) I was excited when brother Jim found this in his shop as I thought I left it with the little house we just sold. I don't use it much but I was happy to still have it:-)
Anyway it's getting late and we have a lot of things to do tomorrow so I'll call it a night.
I pray you all stand strong, striving in the Word and Truth, overcoming all obstacles for the glory of God.
Love to you all,
Sister Deb
