Beggars Are Choosers

Greetings sisters in Christ!
Thank the Lord and sing His praises!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3-12
We are in yet another new town, praising God for safe travels and witnessing along the way.  We see beggars all over and as I've mentioned before, we make little bags of various foods (granola bars, peanuts, fruit chews, cheese sticks, hard candies etc.) and put a gospel card in them.  It shows love and of course the most important thing is the gospel, good news.  I've spoken many times of the beggars, here in the sisters blog, and mentioned how we see what they truly do (and are) as opposed to those who drive by and have no clue. We still offer love and the Words of eternal life, stopping at each one along the way.  (I share this not to boast, I'm simply sharing that we have encountered hundreds and hundreds of them over the years.)  Many of them, while standing with a sign asking for help (money, food etc) will look at the food bag we offer and say "I won't eat that stuff" (or something of the sort.  It's like that oxymoron you can't wrap your head around...they stand there begging but choosing what to beg for.)  Just goes to show you, what we see all the time, is what it is, they are not what they say they are.

Have you heard the old saying "Beggars can't be choosers?"  I heard that a lot growing up when it came to foods and being thankful for what you have, not wanting for something you can't have.  Back 'in the day' there were hungry beggars who would be thankful and eat what was handed to them, they couldn't be choosy.  But today's beggars can be choosy because there are food pantries all over, churches give out food, charities in numerous amounts always looking to do something for them, thrift stores hand out clothing, many get housing assistance and energy aid etc.

They can be choosy AND THEY ARE!

I asked brother Jim to draw this for me.

Not long ago we encountered a band of beggars in a town.They were spread out, taking turns begging and as we were leaving that town, we gave one set on the corner a bag and brother Jim shared about the gospel with them.  We drove on, arrived at another town and guess who showed up and parked right behind us?  The band of beggars.  They all took their turns standing on the corner....then as night fell they drove off to wherever their next destination is.

With all this push for socialism, the country is raising up a lazy younger generation, living off society and at some point soon, the government, when it has it's way.   Brother Jim's been teaching on this and how the Anabaptist's are getting swept away in it also, no doubt as most of them are just as spiritually dead as the other denominations.

Another brother Jim picture.

Let us be a shining light of God's word through our obedience, that the world will see.  Through that will be conviction for those who might be seeking truth and either way God will be glorified through our living witness.

Praise God we have the truth and in love, we share it with others and let God be the judge of what they do with it.

Just another experience from us while we travel on the road, heading around wherever the witnessing is, praising God for the opportunity to do so.

Have a joyous evening.
Love,
Sister Deb
