Quiet Conviction
Greetings sisters in Christ!
Brother Jim and I were talking about how the Holy Spirit came to comfort, teach and convict. I then told him a story that happened to me while I was in the store that morning when he was working on something in the van.
I was walking through the aisle and brother Jim text me to pick up something while I was in there and as I was texting him back I veered in the aisle and unknown to me (because I was foolishly walking while texting instead of stepping off out of the way) I stepped right in front of a man pushing a cart.
I looked up just in time to avoid a calamity and said 'Oh, I'm sorry' just as he said 'excuse me'. I apologized again as I glanced in his cart and he sheepishly said 'oh, no problem' and quickly looked away while he hurriedly walked down the aisle. His cart had a bunch of beer in it and he was convicted. (No it is not sinful to drink alcohol, drunkenness is the sin, just so we all understand that.)
I was pondering this as I finished up my shopping and thought about how many people I smile at while I shop and so many are void of any emotion as if their conscience has been seared. Then there are some who smile or are convicted by what they are buying like when I stand in line by someone who is buying something they know is not good for them as they still have a conscience.
Brother Jim and I have looked at this world closely for years and as we travel we get to see up front various cultures within this one country, diverse income and living standards etc and most, regardless of where they come from or who they are, are so spiritually dead they seem void of anything internally. I think of 2 Thessalonians 2 where people are turned over to strong delusion that they should believe a lie. And Romans 1
That's what we see today, darkened, foolish, fearful people void of truth who seemingly have been turned over. I then recall that dark time in my life where I believe God turned me over to it for a time and I know that since there was hope for me....there is hope for others.
I share this because I hope it encourages you to stand strong as a godly woman in this evil world that is every growing darker and know that just your obedience to our Father, is a conviction to those who have something spiritual going on in them...a battle perhaps.
Let your light shine sisters and enjoy this picture of God's beautiful creation.
Blessings and love,
Sister Deb

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools
