Be Ye Perfect

Greetings sisters in Christ!
Praise God for His mercies certainly are new every day, for those who love the Lord with all their heart and strive in obedience in all their ways.  This journey we are on can be difficult at times (as we were warned in the scriptures) but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, amen?

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:9

I wanted to talk about being perfect.  The greek word technically means: complete, applications of labor and growth, full age of man, brought to it's end or in other words 'mature' as we would know it today.

In Titus 2 it talks about the older women teaching the younger women how to be.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:3-5

The goal is to help the younger women (in the Lord, not necessarily in age) become perfect / mature in the faith in all the ways of a godly woman.  In order to become an 'older' woman we must work hard to overcome and mature past our fleshly nature and how we do that is by diligence.  Not being swept away with false doctrines, our flesh or our desires.  Not being swayed back and forth, in and out of sound doctrine by bad influence from family, husbands, children etc.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:6-7

We must 'draw a line in the sand' and stand on the rock of truth, not being budged here or there all the time.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Matthew 7:24-25

Yes, we can go through times that we fail, but over the years, year after year, we should see a remarkable growth that continues upward and onward, many times more than our failings.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
2 Peter 1:5-7

If you look at your life and see that you take one step forward and one back, you are not maturing, you are going nowhere.  There must be growth as Paul says we need to get off the milk and onto the meat, striving forward into that solid maturity so that we can help others behind us.

We sisters need to take this seriously because it's a command.  BE....YE PERFECT. That means we work hard for it, not take it lightly and being like a boat tossed here and there because of our circumstances or influences.

Part of maturing is confessing and acknowledging your sins and your weaknesses that turn into sin....then dealing with them.  Slice them off and discard them like rotted tissue so new growth can come in and you become strong.  If we continue in our youth for years on end, we are negating the power of our Father who can transform us.  Take a look back at your life last year and see how far you have come.  Look back 2 years, 3 years etc.  If you don't see substantial growth each year, you really need to evaluate your life as a godly woman.  Maturity comes by standing strong on the Word and obeying it.  When you sin, you repent, confess it, correct your wrongs you have done and get going again.  I wrote a post called 'victim or victory' and I encourage you to read that and see if it helps you in your walk. (You can read it HERE.)

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Hebrews 6:1

I pray that you all stand strong and get going in the word as there are younger sisters coming in behind us that would greatly benefit from our maturity.

Have a joyous day.
Love in Christ,
Sister Deb
