Dust Storm After a Spiritual Storm

Greetings, sisters, in the name of our beloved Savior!
I pray you are all suited up in the Ephesians 6 armor for the spiritual battle that we all face, on a daily basis.  Some days are more wicked than others but all must be walked through carefully lest we fall.

Today we were out on the battlefield and it was....

Brother Jim and I were talking about how this has to be the most wicked place we've been thus far.  It's a liberal college town in the middle of a 'greenie' state (there are tons of 'earthy' new age, pagan people here that hate God.)  I told him that when we're done in places like this, it's like we got hit by a truck and I made the mistake of going into the store after all this and it wore me right down.  Picture having all those people walk by and hate you, then you walk among them in the grocery store.  I call it 'walking the gauntlet' which is from a military term 'running the gauntlet' where a convicted person has to run between two lines of soldiers who strike him.  Normally I don't care but these places that are inundated with wickedness and demonic like activity can wear you down and I'll admit I got in my flesh in the store and had a flash back of when I used to have anxiety attacks (before I was in Christ) and restrained myself from running out the door.  I rebuked myself with the thoughts that our Father is greater than he that is in this world. (1 John 4)  We got back to our parking spot (the same one as last night), ate some dinner and I fell right asleep for a short nap.  Our little van is such a refuge, just shut the door, no matter where we are parked, and we have a tiny space of peace from the world.  Praise God!!!!

Now, on the other side of all this is the reason we do it.  It glorifies God and it shines a light for the sheep that we met, praises to our Heavenly Fahter!

* An older man asked what we were all about and stood to talk with brother Jim for a while.

* A rough looking man walked up to brother Jim, nodding his agreement and standing there to talk a bit.  He agreed with what brother Jim said, took a gospel card and went on his way.

* A disabled man came by, encouraged us, hung around and asked us to come back every weekend:-)  Later after we were done, he caught up to us as we were walking back to our van to talk more.

The women were wicked...WICKED and VILE (one knocked brother Jim's sign out of his hand) and none smiled unless they were laughing at us....BUT there was a woman who was sitting on the bench by us for quite a while as we were on a corner.  She was tattooed up, smoking a cigarette and dressed like a harlot.  As we were walking by, she smiled and me and winked, I smiled back thinking of what Jesus said about the Pharisee and the publican in Luke 18.  And...

Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Matthew 21:31

We rejoice to be workers of the Lord even though there are times we have to push our way through, just as you have in your lives, amen sisters?  There are times  you have to deal with situations that you would rather not, but if we keep our focus on the Lord and know that we do it all unto Him (not as man pleasers), He is glorified in our obedience!  Yep, there are times as a wife to an evangelist that I might get a feeling of uncomfortableness  when brother Jim suggests we do something in regards to witnessing, but I kill it and support his decision.  (Like when there's a huge crowd of people in a park, watching a music show and he walks us through the middle of it during the break and everyone stares at us.  Or when everyone is lined up and down the street waiting for some sort of even to take place and brother Jim takes the stage and preaches to the audience with all eyes on us, calling them out of their sin and to repentance, things like that.)  God is honored when a godly wife submits to her husband (whether believer or unbeliever) and God can work through the husband without the interference of the wife when she is obedient.

After that spiritual storm, we were blessed to partake of one of God's physical storms here on earth.

God's promises, how strengthening and enriching to ponder.  The promise of eternal life for those who come through His son.  Brother Jim preaches about the precious blood of Christ and how He shed it for the remission of sins for all those who will repent and follow after Him.  People laugh and it makes me think of how the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing and how does the rest of it go sisters?

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1 Corinthians 1:18-21

Amen, let us rejoice in this day the Lord has given us, let us go about our day as reasonable service, regardless of what it is we need to do and set our minds on things above, bringing honor and glory to our Father.  He looks after and takes care of His children....we are daughters of the most high.  How amazing is that:-)

In the wickedness of the day I was praising the Father for all the pretty flowers in that downtown area and I got to stand by them. (You can see the pics scattered in this post to brighten the darkness:-) In fact there were two big pots on each corner and a small space in between them and the road that I stood in, rather like a hedge of our Fathers creation between me and the world.  You can see the videos of brother Jim preaching along with some witnessing and mockers:

Tomorrow we plan to stand out at a religious place in this same town, we shall see what comes of that.

Have a joyous evening sisters.

Love in Christ,
Sister Deb
