There was ....
Wickedness :-(
For a short time, in me today, after I got off a 2 hour phone call that did nothing and I'll have to do it all again tomorrow. (Technology, that's all I'll say lest I go backwards...) Brother Jim knew I was crabby and I was fighting in my flesh, but not doing very well at it. He said something to the effect that if this is the worst thing we have going on then we're doing pretty good. My thought was 'you're not the one who has to do it' and I dropped that like a hot rock because he's right.
We have the hope of eternal life, how can we let little things overtake us when we should be overtaking them?
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5
It could be that I was weakened by physical struggles, then worn down after 2 hours, then driving in the rain through city traffic that we're not used to (that's long gone in our past and we're happy to leave it there.) We were almost out of it when I made the video.
But those are no excuses, look what our Savior did for us and he didn't falter. We have His strength that we need to persevere and get through this life, we just have to use His, not ours.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: [4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Romans 8:1-10
I'm glad to say that as the years go by, the more diligent we are at quickly battling such risings of the flesh, the more victorious we are and the less it happens.
I don't want any wicked way in me. I had too much wickedness in me before I was washed by the blood of the Lamb. I should have been the one slain for all the vileness I partook of in my unregenerate state but our Father heard my cries and rescued me from the grips of satan. He is merciful to those who seek Him.
Strive on sisters and don't sweat the small stuff because it's all going to burn someday anyway.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 2 Peter 3:10-11
Let us give thanks for every minute of every day and not let the cares of this world sweep us away.
Speaking of being swept away, many professed believers are swept away with so called 'Christian movies'. Here's a link from brother Jim's teaching blog that shows why Christians shouldn't be watching them.

We're in Oklahoma now, heading south toward Texas.
They have a lot of tolls on their roads!
It helps us appreciate the simple state of Missouri where our homestead is and makes the gravel roads there look pretty good:-)
