Set Your Pace for the Enduring Race
Good evening sisters!
Praise God we are rejoicing that we had safe travels, I was able to witness today and we have been blessed with some work so it makes us extra busy....but we are thankful for all! I made a video for you.
We were talking about how our life changes quickly such as being slower paced with more one on one witnessing, then busy with street preaching, work and travel and brother Jim said I should encourage you in this (and he gave me the title:-) We all have varied lives and need to find our own pace that will allow us to remain steadfast in the faith without springing up and then withering away or being so slow to grow that we die in the process. This requires a constant examination of your life, what you do, and what you can add to or remove in order to continue pressing on.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. (Luke 10:39-42)
Some have a very busy stressful life so I would encourage you to see what you can pluck out what will give you more time to focus on the Lord and what you can do in a ministry for the kingdom of God. Plucking out could entail people who are dragging you back, too much junk in your house to take care of, you my be too picky about how things are done therefore taking more time, too much wasted time cooking when you could simplify it, etc.
On the flip side there are people who have a lot more time on their hands, more peace and a low key life that they could actually be adding more to further their walk and the kingdom of God.
This requires balance and it's a constant re-evaluation in our life to maintain a walk that can be consistent throughout the years. None of us know how long we will be in this life before the Lord takes us home so we must make sure our foundation is on the GOSPEL and build up from there, one day at a time so that we can be strong for the journey.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
To be steadfast and unmovable we have to be deeply rooted in sound doctrine and then acting upon it.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
Growing weary usually comes from distractions, wrong focus, looking for our strength from places other than the Lord, looking back, too much going on in our lives etc. The sister who is overly busy will grow weary from much work, the sister who doesn't have as much can grow weary from lack of it.
I can't tell you how to do it, where to cut back or increase, only you can do that. Go to the Lord and ask Him to reveal to you where you can balance out your life in order for you to set a pace that will enable you to keep going.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8)
Our Father promises to help us if we go to Him.
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:9-13)
