What We Can Do With The Word of God
Good evening sister saints!
I pray you are all well and that you have no divisions among you and any saints that you know.
Matthew 5:23-24
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
God's Word is clear that we are to strive hard to all be of one mind in unity as the body of Christ. I bring this up as we had someone from our past reach back to us and through much conversation etc, he admitted he is still united in spiritual harlotry with an unbiblical group of which he agrees is hypocritical. Brother Jim offered to take one thing at a time to work out the truth and we shall see what will happen as God is glorified when His children fight their flesh to work through whatever troubles are between them. Anyway, I pray for all those who we have had contact with over the years and by God's grace there may be unity some day.
Brother Jim and I were talking a while ago about this subject and he said I should do a post on it.
It's called, What Can We Do With The Word of God?
It's a simple list with corresponding scriptures and it certainly could be much longer than this but here is enough to get us going in the right direction and maybe you can make your own list and add to it!
WE CAN....
* Be saved by it.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
A woman of the world can repent and become a child of God.
* Love it
Psalm 119:159-163
Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness. Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word. I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
A godly woman will love His Word.
* Gain wisdom and knowledge from it
Proverbs 18:15
The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
A daughter of the most High God will go to the scriptures to gain wisdom and knowledge for every aspect of her life.
* Be convicted by it
John 16:8
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
A woman who fears the Lord obeys the scriptures, will be convicted of any sin she has, and repent of it.
* Be transformed by it
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
A woman of God will have many transformations in her life from how she acts, dresses, talks, what she partakes of etc.
* Live by it
Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
A child of God will live by the guidance of God's Word.
* Hid it in our heart
Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
A daughter of God will study scriptures and hide them in her heart.
* Meditate on it
Psalm 1:2
But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
A woman who fears God and loves His word will meditate on it and pray unceasing.
* Be rebuked by it
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
A true born from above woman will be thankful for a rebuke.
* Be encouraged by it
Isaiah 43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
A godly woman who is striving obediently will greatly be encouraged by the promises in the word of God.
* Judge by it
Matthew 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
She will know how to use God's Word as a judging measure in her life to know what is good and acceptable.
* Be comforted by it
Psalm 119:50
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
A woman striving to obey God will be comforted by the encouraging words of the Lord.
* Be strengthened by it
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
A woman of God will study the scriptures and be strengthened by those precious words and the testimony of those who have walked before her.
* Heap coals with it
Romans 12:20-21
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
A meek and quiet woman of the Lord will deal with others in goodness and kindness, preferring them before her, heaping coals on the heads of those who need them.
* Have unity in it
1 Corinthians 1:10
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
A woman that fears the Lord will strive to kill her flesh and learn to discern the Word so she can strive for unity in the body.
* Be protected by it
Ephesians 6:10-11
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
A woman striving to follow Christ will use His word to protect her from satan and those he uses to discourage or distract her.
* Be humbled by it
Proverbs 22:4
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
She will humble herself and kill any pride that might be lurking.
* Share it
Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
A godly woman will be looking for opportunities to share the precious, life saving gospel with others.
* Be guided by it
Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
That's just a partial list of what good we can do with it, here are some bad things to beware of...
A daughter of God will allow her heavenly Father to guide her.
Those are all wonderful things a born again woman can do with the word of God BUT if a woman has an evil heart she can...
* Twist it
1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Many ungodly woman use the word of God to prop up the defense of their sin.
* Lie about it
Genesis 3:1-4
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? [2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
An evil hearted woman will use partial scriptures and twist them to make them say what she wants them to.
* Be condemned by it
John 3:17-19
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
If an evil hearted woman does not repent she will be condemned by her unbelief and or disobedience.
* Sell it
2 Corinthians 2:17
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
A wicked hearted woman may write things about the Lord and then sell it, making mammon from what was freely given by the Lord.
* Hate it
Romans 1:25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
A woman who has an evil heart will hate the word of God as it condemns and convicts her.
* Trample it
Matthew 7:6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
A wicked woman will not heed the word of God and will trample it, abuse it and turn on the one who gave it to her.
* Die by it
Revelation 19:15
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
An evil woman who won't repent will die by the word of God.
I'm striving in the first list and I hope you all are too! Let us continue to encourage one another to treat the precious word of God as it is...precious.
We have left big cities behind for a short time...
...and are now in a town that we are familiar with and really appreciate as it's pretty laid back, so laid back in fact just tonight, a man living in his car right behind us, walked over to offer half of his sandwich :-)
