Remember Lot's Wife
Greetings to my beloved sister saints, who are striving on in all truth!
I hope your day is or will be going well in the Lord:-) I want to write about something to give us all a reminder and warning...
Remember Lot's wife. Luke 17:32
Feel free to read Genesis 19 how God offered the chance to be spared to Lot, his wife and daughters (sons in law weren't interested) and what happened?
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
Genesis 19:17
They were commanded not to look back...
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Genesis 19:26
That's not a good thing...
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew 5:13
We don't want to be good for nothing, cast out and trodden underfoot of men. It can happen to any of us you know, and I want to share how. We've seen it happen so many times before and it usually is like this:
Someone reaches out because they are seeking truth and because they are seeing through the lies and deception of man made religion. We take them to the Word, show them the truth vs the lies they were taught and they are joyous that they have the truth and want to obey! Glory to God we rejoice with them as they repent of their sins when they learn of them and begin to walk in obedience. Meanwhile we are warning them about satan coming to try to get them back into his grips, using any means possible.
We warn them to flee, run...get away from the influences that will cause them to doubt in their flesh. Influences that may include their family, friends, church associations etc. And sadly, often....
They look back and most end up like Lot's wife.
They 'listened' to those being used of satan to stir up fleshly emotions, make them sad and think they are doing something wrong and unloving to them. Tears, manipulations, threats etc. are all used to bring them back into their old life. Worst of all they cause them to doubt the word of God and it's truth.
Sounds familiar doesn't it?
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Genesis 3:1
"Hath God said..."
They hearken to the voices of the children of satan. Yes, that's a bold thing to say, to call the people of the world, children of satan but let's see where I'm getting that from.
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:42-47
Jesus said those who hear His word are of God, those who don't...aren't. If you are not a child of God, whose child are you? That goes right along with needing to be born into the kingdom of God and going from darkness (child of satan) to light (child of God).
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62
It's echoed again in the New Testament by our Savior and Master Himself. Looking back makes us not fit for the kingdom and good for nothing. We've seen those words come true MANY times sisters, and we shouldn't think too highly of ourselves lest we too fall.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12
Those who walk in the flesh will what? Fulfill the lusts of it so let's make sure we are walking in the spirit and fulfilling the commands of God and He will protect us. When times get tough in the Christian life, don't allow satan to tempt you to look back at people who miss (the old sinful) you and the comfortable and 'fun' life you had. The life that was full of the fleshly things of this world that were leading you to destruction and the wrath of God...keep looking forward to our Savior who has paved the way with His shed blood.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, Revelation 1:5
We need to be training up as sister soldiers in Christ so we can share the GOSPEL with the lost, not sitting around looking back. Glory to God, let us press one another on!
What a glorious hope we have and one that we should be sharing to the world, calling them out and into the light of Christ.
We just talked about going from death to life, from darkness to light. I'm sure you sisters can certainly attest to the fact that being spiritually minded is life and peace. Being fleshly minded is turmoil and chaos with death coming. (Been there done that.)
Let us all stand for truth sister saints and encourage each other to endure. Don't look back and I'm here to help you.
Much godly love to you,
Sister Deb
