Greetings sisters in the Lord!
(Thank you sister for the scripture pictures:-)
How was your day? Ours was busy and I'm thankful for the health I have to do what I can do. Yesterday I had to tear the inside of the van apart so brother James could get to some wiring down at the bottom (under everything of course) and ran better wires and today I put it all back together and was rejoicing that project was done! I was also rejoicing that the Lord had mercy on me and it didn't cause too many painful issues and I was able to keep working through the day!!! Seems like small things to do but when you have physical issues to deal with, sometimes the small things can seem really big. Speaking of which, brother James gave me an idea on a video for you sisters, about the little things adding up.
I mentioned this verse in the video...
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Isaiah 28:10
And if we sisters look at the concept of adding one thing to another, here and there, it will add up to something big. Let's use $1 for example. When I was working I often saw people spending at least $1 each day on snacks in the lunch room. If a person was to save it each day instead of spending it, by end of the year it would be $365. I don't know about you but I could do a LOT with that amount of money!
So the same thing goes for us sisters who have been enlightened by the Holy Spirit and we are reading His Word. God will reveal His truth to us and if we do what the man with the one talent did...
But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Matthew 25:18-19
It will be taken away from us and given to someone else, not growing into anything.
And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:25-30
But if we are faithful with it then God will give us more, building upon itself until we are mature in His word and knowledge. Notice it says 'For unto everyone that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath'. That means we need to be doing something with what the Lord has given us or it'll be taken away.
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:20-23
A lot of people ask how we (brother James and I) got to where we are now, in full time ministry, and we share with them that we have been faithful not only in the word by obeying everything as we learned it and the Lord just kept giving us more knowledge but we've also been faithful in using our time wisely, not on vain pursuits or idle entertainment. We have been faithful in our finances, being extremely frugal and diligent about it. We've also been faithful in the care we bestow upon those who claim Christ and try to bring them along to where they can be mature in all areas. Let's not forget about love that the Lord gives us and we should be multiplying that with others. There are so many things the Lord will give us and if we are faithful, He will keep building upon them....little things add up.
Which, us sisters talk about all the time, how little things really aren't little to the Christian. The world may look down on us for rejoicing over a glass of cold water while they are sipping pricey lattes but if we continue to be faithful in our lives with the little and rejoicing in it, that person who is ensnared by their flesh in the world, might become convicted and and we can be a shining light of truth to help them.
One day at a time, we be faithful with what the Lord has given us (that means obeying Him in all areas) and over time those days of faithfulness add up to a lot of faithful days with much maturity in them.
In reference to the scripture on that beautiful picture...many people think 'evil' is something really bad when it's anything that is sinful. Sadly many people don't go searching for what the Lord thinks is sinful and instead make up their own references for sin to suit their flesh. Don't fall for it sisters, hold fast to His word and ways.
(Thank you brother James for the picture:-)
And more on little things adding up, it can go the other way for bad things too. If we allow one 'little' sin or compromise in our life, it opens the door to one more, than another something that seems small and next thing you know there's a pile of sin in our lives and we'll be left outside the gates of heaven if we don't forsake it all and die to self, following after our Savior in all truth. Here's an example of a little garbage here and there adding up to a big pile that needs to be burned.
We had some visitors again today, they like the suet blocks. (Pileated woodpeckers) I love their call and they let you know they are coming from quite a ways away too. Pretty amazing birds.
Here's some evidence of a woodpecker...not sure what kind made it but it's pretty awesome how they use their beaks like a hammer and make them to get at insects.
Little bit here and there and next thing you know there's a hole!
Looks like a lot of work to me but that's how we get something done....keep pressing on. Just like in the life of a follower of Christ, we just keep pressing on.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14
And we were blessed with this awesome sunset.
And I hope the ending to your day was just as beautiful in the Lord.
Hold fast sister saints and Lord willing I will come back to encourage you one more day.
Love, fervent love, in Christ,
Sister Deb
