Ministry Ideas for Godly Women

Greetings sisters in Christ!
I pray you are all doing well today.  In a previous post about overcoming loneliness (you can read that post here: https://titus24sisters.blogspot.com/2020/03/overcoming-loneliness.html ) I said I would offer some ministry ideas that sisters could consider, therefore using your spare time for the Lord.  We have had some rough times in our walk and if it wasn't for me pouring myself out in various work for the Lord, I would have been overcome in misery.  That's not becoming of a saint of God so I challenge those of you who have free time for ministry, to go before the Lord and seek His will.

Of course if you are married, have children or elderly in your life, then they are your first ministry and praise God, you are already busy!!! But there are many sisters who are single or have an unbelieving husband that allows them more time on their hands to be working in a ministry instead of focusing on themselves and what they don't have.

These are just 'ideas' that I hope helps you figure out what you can do in your life to keep you busy about the work of the Lord and not focusing on your flesh and what you desire.

* Blog.  When I was first born again I started a homestead blog and shared what I was learning, in the ways of cooking from scratch, gardens, harvesting, canning, taking care of animals etc and shared pertaining scripture verses. As time went on I had a few different blogs that kept me busy in my free time and I looked forward to pouring myself out there in hopes that a glimpse into the life of a Titus 2 sister is would be an encouragement to others. (It was and is, as many have told us.) Over time, as our ministry grew, I shut those blogs down and focused on what brother Jim felt the Lord calling us to do.  Not long ago we discussed that I had time to open a new sisters blog of which I eagerly look forward to working on every day.  Yes, believe it or not, a simple blog about the life of a godly woman is very edifying to other sisters!  If you have knowledge about homeschooling, that would be a tremendous help for those struggling through it.  A blog about sewing and making household items would be good.  How about an informative blog about God's creation.  A blog that has craft ideas for those who have children would be good. Anything that is good, pure, true etc (see Philippians 4:8) would be encouraging to other sisters!  This is one of the biggest forms of ministry we encourage others to do because it's free, it can edify the body of Christ all over the world and it's a light in a dark place. It takes our focus of ourselves and instead pours out our love to the saints in a form of online fellowship. We are very encouraged by blogs from the brethren.

NOTE: Women are not to be teaching theology.  They can teach anything pertaining to women and the roles women have, such as the examples I've given.

* Email the gospel.  When brother Jim was in the sales job, he would bring home business cards that he found on bulletin boards and I would email the gospel to the women.  There are many ways to find email addresses.

* Mail out the gospel.  At one time we started working our way through the phone book and mailed out the gospel to all our neighbors and surrounding towns.

* Hand out gospel cards.  Learn to look for opportunities at stores, busy downtown areas, farmers markets, rummage sales, swap meets etc.  (We call those places like the old marketplace.) You'd be surprised how opportunities arise if you are ready and just striking up a conversation with a woman can open the door.

* Watch for discounts and sales on shelf stable foods and household goods to donate to a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, someone who's gone through a disaster etc. and have a gospel card with it. Over time, without spending a lot of money, you can have an assortment of items ready to share when the need arises.

* Watch for opportunities in your neighborhood that you can offer baked goods with the gospel, as a neighborly gift.

* Volunteer work.  If you choose to do volunteer work be sure that it is not with an unbiblical faith based organization.  There are places that provide meals for the low income elderly, soup kitchens, food pantries etc. If you carefully consider them, they might be an option for you.

I made these and sold them online.

* Start a small (low investment) home business making something and selling it online, at farmers markets or town rummage sales etc and give the gospel out with it.  I used to gather supplies at thrift stores and make crafts to sell online.  Many people make soaps, lotions, natural products, aprons, crafts, grow extra food in the garden etc.  It doesn't have to be complicated and it gets you in the world, in a safe manner, to shine your light, keep you busy and share the Word.

* Childcare might be an option for you if carefully chosen. There may be people who need childcare in order to work and if the situation was right you could be a godly light to those children in your care.

* There may be some options in writing to women prisoners.

* Maybe there is a woman's shelter that you could volunteer.

These are a few ideas that I hope help you find what works in your life. The whole point of this is to learn how to kill your flesh, give of yourself and edify the saints. If you read Ephesians 4, it's about edifying the saints and equipping them for what?????

Ministry.

If the saints all over the world were more focused on ministry (giving to others) than themselves, there would be much strengthening. Instead what do we see?  Compromised, weak in the faith believers waiting and longing for the flesh of another believer that God has not given them.  This is a sinful waste of time. Just sayin.....

I hope this has sparked some ideas for you in finding a ministry and keeping yourself busy.  Trust me, when you're busy pouring out for the saints, you don't have time to be depressed or lonely, instead you are strong and fortified because God fills you back up even more!!!

Love to you all,
Sister Deb
