Endure Hardness Like a Good Soldier

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Thank the Lord for this day and let us all be content with our lot in life.  I often hear brother Jim say that to men he councils, encouraging them to be content in their lot in life.  We see in the book of 1 Corinthians 12 how there are many parts of the body with various callings in their life, we certainly see that don't we sisters?  We all are in different parts of the world, doing different things (some things similar to others) yet we are all of the same body.  We all have struggles in our flesh in the life that God has called us, not one has the perfect life and won't until we enter heaven.  It could be easy to look at someone else's life and long for that instead of what we have, but that's sinful to do isn't it?  (And quite frankly, we don't know all the details and if we did, we might not want that life after all and think the one we have is pretty good.)   2 Timothy 2:3 I wanted to write about enduring...

We Remember You Because You Love God!

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise the Lord for this day as all good things come from Him! Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17  We were blessed to see 6 of our grandchildren in 2 days:-) A while ago we sent our picture to them and I said to two of the girls (7 and 5), " we wanted to make sure they don't forget who we are ."  The youngest said " We remember you because you love God! ". What a way to be remembered, how awesome!  Our testimony to those young children will be known as the as  Papa and Nana who love God:-) Earlier, the girls wanted me to show them our van again while Papa spent time with our grandson. While we were sitting in there talking, I told them that we don't just drive around for fun, we do it to share the gospel and help people understand the truth.  The youngest asked what a gospel was so I explained in 5 yea...

Modify a Skirt Waist

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for every day we have to glorify our Father by being a living example of a transformed life, to those around us.  Let the word go out. This is just a quick post on how to modify a skirt waist, based on a conversation with a sister about finding clothes at thrift stores and modifying to fit us.  It's very easy to do and if you have a sewing machine you can do it in about 5 minutes.  It takes longer to set up the machine than it does to modify:-) See the picture below. (I'm not an artist:-) All you need to do is sew the corners of the skirt to take it in just enough that it won't fall off your hips.  Cut off the excess material and you are done!  It works best if you leave the skirt right side out so that you don't have a raw edge against you. Yep, it looks unfinished and yep, you may have a bulge there, yep it might make the skirt stick out a bit more in the hip area.  What do I say to that? If you are concerned ...

Witnessing in Wisconsin Cheeseland

Image
Greetings sisters! How is you day going today?  We are rejoicing as our travels have been uneventful and safe.  We don't take that for granted! We drove through to our destination and thought you might enjoy this video:-) This next one is better:-) As we got to this town we are in, a woman chased me down in the store parking lot to ask about our signs on the van.  She told me she was getting messages from reading the Bible and that we all need to go back and change the world by becoming who we are supposed to be, something like that.  I told her that is not of God and walked her through the gospel.  She insisted that she's being enlightened and we all have to do our best to change the world.  I told her that Jesus is coming back to destroy it all (2 Thessalations 1:8)  and bring a new heaven and earth and we must be in Him or we will be lost.  We talked for several minutes, she took the gospel card and thanked me, although I'm not sure she meant i...

Work Trip and Witnessing

Image
Good evening and greetings to our sisters in Christ! Are you thanking the Lord for this day?  Rejoicing in all things and content?  Last week, we embarked on a week long work trip, routing us about 400 miles through Wisconsin, into (upper) Michigan then back into Wisconsin. When we started, brother Jim said we'd hold off on street preaching so we could do all this as quick as possible. (Normally we have spot jobs in various locations as we go.)    I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. [2] My soul shall make her boast in the Lord : the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. [3] O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. [4] I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:1-4 Our days were busy from morning until evening and we enjoyed God's creation along the way.  Brother Jim's voice had a rest and just yesterday he mentioned that.  He also mentioned that we h...

God's Superior Handiwork at Lake Superior

Image
Greetings sisters! I hope you are well today?  We have an itinerary that we are working our way through the state of Michigan and have arrived at our parking spot for the night.  On the way we took a break for a couple hours to view God's amazing creation on Lake Superior.  As we were eating our fried egg sandwich by the lake... I took off some of my bread and tossed it on the rocks to feed whatever critters might find it.  We were blessed to see this lil guy... He almost ate from my hand:-) We set out our chairs, watched and listened to the waves while brother Jim counselled a man on text. Back into Wisconsin we will go tomorrow, Lord willing. May the Lord's word go out every step of the way in all our lives. Grace, peace and blessings to you, Love, Sister Deb The biblical gospel... https://www.dontperish.com/the-gospel.html

Remembering Where We Came From

Image
Greetings dear sister saints! I hope your day, or evening, is going well:-) It's one of those nights for me...sleep escapes me, so I put that extra time to good use.  Pondering who I am today, in Christ, and remembering where I've come from....praising the Lord for rescuing me!  I can only speak for me, but I'm sure many of you will agree, it's hard to find a quiet time. A time to quietly ponder the things of God and not have to drop it to do something else.  For us, we are always in the world (on edge and ready for someone to approach us as we live in parking lots :-), driving, witnessing, answering emails or phone cells, uploading teachings (audio, video, posts) joyously encouraging saints or helping a sheep come out from among them.  And of course dealing with false teachers and deceivers. Not to grumble, no, just stating facts:-) And also bring husband and wife in the midst of it all. You all have your own potpourri of issues to deal with as well... I've gotten ...

Brother Jim and Sister Deb

Image
Greetings in love, to our sister saints! Brother Jim was going through his pictures and wanting me to change ours on our dontperish.com website and I thought I'd post it here also.  No, we don't like to be the center as our lives are about Christ (John 3:30) but every once in a while it's nice to remind you who we are.  Yep, I hate posting my picture on the world wide web, but for the love of the brethren I'll do it...once in a while. This was taken while we were in Florida last winter, street preaching, and it was a rare 20 minutes of viewing the ocean before we went back into the world:-)  (I had to kill my flesh because I could have stood in that cold wind watching the waves beat on the shore, all day long:-)  The power of God... it's amazing how He shows it in everything. Water which cannot be grasped as it slips through the fingers, can destroy the world.  Fire that cannot be held can burn everything except water, which it would still make it evaporate....

Rocks And Water...God's Creation

Image
Greetings sisters! I have one more post of God's creation...all for His glory:-)  As we were walking a trail after driving all day, a man and woman drove up and said they love our signs on the van.  And how did they know who owned that van? By our obedience in our dress.  Praise God and we hope they go deeper in the truth. We are thankful for brief times of refreshment in God's creation as I'm sure you all are also.   This life is a continuous battle of not only the flesh in ourselves but in being strong against the battle of sin going on around us.  The world is inundated with carnal music wherever you go, nakedness and vile immodesty, vulgar conversations, people wasting precious time on idle activities, hypocritical so called Christians that are disobedient, people indulging the lust of the flesh and eyes etc etc etc.  We have to train ourselves up to march through it, living among the world (not participating in it) but being unspotted by it....
