Blast from my Past....Canning Venison or Beef

Image
Hello Sisters! Praise the Lord, we have been able to street witness and although the mockers are many, the light is shining to the few.  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) We are pressed for time lately and I'm working on a couple other posts for you but in the meantime I'm finding some older posts from my past Titus 2 (disabled) blog that I'll share here. Today I share with you how to can venison or beef: Canning venison or beef is super simple (just takes some time) and is a joy to have in the pantry for quick, tasty meals.  There are 2 methods you can use, hot or cold pack. The difference is that using the hot pack method, you heat up the meat and it shrinks a bit in the cooking so that when you fill the jars you get more i

Blast from my Past.....Molasses Banana Bread Recipe

Image
Greetings sisters,  Here's another post from the past blog...Molasses Banana Bread. As I'm reading these old posts and seeing the recipes, I get a twinge of longing to be baking in a real kitchen, but we're on the road so I'll have to kill that flesh:-)  I hope you enjoy this one...... We enjoy healthy snacks because sometimes in our busy carving season they become our meal.  Natural peanut butter is a mainstay in our house and I stock up when I find them at our local dent and bent.  It contains nothing more than peanuts and sometimes salt and in order to eat it (other than just off the spoon) we like to put it on breads and one favorite is banana bread.  It's a great way to not let old bananas go to waste and a healthy alternative to other quick food options, for sure.   But wait!  Move over bananas and make room for MOLASSES!  Molasses are a powerhouse of nutrition, taste great and when combined in banana bread, well, words cannot describe it.  This rec

Blast from my Past....Utilizing a Woodstove for More than Heat

Image
Hello again sisters, Here is another post from the past on how I utilized our big woodstove from the house in Wisconsin, that now belongs to new owners:-)  We still have a little woodstove in our homestead in Missouri that I cook on when we're there in the coldest winter months. Just a quick picture of how we utilize our woodstove when cooking:-)  A random meal of venison steak, farm fresh eggs, home canned beets and corn along with home grown fried potatoes. Water in the back heating up to wash the dishes after dinner:-) Have a joyous day. Love in Christ, Sister Deb The biblical gospel... https://www.dontperish.com/the-gospel.html

Blast from my Past....Quick Pan Bread

Image
Greetings again sisters! Here is a recipe from my old keepers at home blog on how to make a quick pan bread.  I hope you enjoy it: There was a time when I would go to the dent and bent and buy some of the better quality bread and put it in the freezer for emergency use, which means I either forgot to make my own or I ran out of time:-)  Over the past couple years I have been wanting to take time to find a way to make a good quality wheat bread in less than the normal time to make bread and I finally have.  If I were to hurry from start to finish, I could do it in about 35 minutes.  It all depends if I spread it thin and cook it on the wood stove or regular stove and if I have the wheat already ground and waiting in the freezer to be made into the next delicious bread. I'm all about the simplistic route so after getting my mind boggled online with all these fancy ways to make a pan bread, rising times, ingredients etc....I decided to unplug and go figure one out myself. I have

Blast from my Past....Bean Burger Recipe

Image
Hello sisters! Here is another post from the past blog I had...a recipe for simple, inexpensive bean burgers: In our quest for simplicity and health we have decided to cut back on meat, especially ground beef.  We do enjoy a burger once in a while but most often we eat chicken, venison or fish and now are incorporating a lot more beans into our diet.  Beans are very versatile and I hope to have many more posts on them because they can be used for appetizers, main dishes, in soups and desserts.  They are another one of God's amazing gifts to mankind and learning how to cook with them is a wonderful blessing. I've been wanting to try bean burgers for quite some time and this winter was a good time to put them in the schedule.  Wish I would have done it long time ago:-)  These are super simple and pretty delicious I might add and Jim really likes them so that's a definite write in my recipe box for sure! If you've ever made tuna or salmon burgers, this is pretty much

Blast From My Past...Hearty Beef and Split Pea Soup with Sweet Potoato

Image
Greetings sisters! Years ago when I was new in the Lord I had a blog (for a few years) of our Wisconsin homestead.  Then when we began our ministry more full time, I archived the blog and focused on being more of a helper to brother Jim in this area and just recently we decided that it's time for me to do a sisters blog, which is where you are now:-)  Last night I was thinking that I might go check out that old blog and see if there are any posts that I could move over here to share with you and I found some that I'll work on transferring. It looks like I have  posts of recipes, food processing, faith thoughts, natural products, woodstove cooking etc.  Maybe some will be of encouragement to you:-) Below is a post I copied from 2016 with my thoughts on simplicity and a recipe of: Hearty Beef and Split Pea Soup with Sweet Potato It's quite common to hear comments on rising food prices and the difficulty in feeding a family but most often those saying that are not very
