The Dangers of a Perfectionist Mindset

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! As I was getting things ready for our departure, I was sewing some curtain / coverings for my shelves in the van (see the post on our camper van HERE ) and having troubles with the machine.  Well, as it was pointed out to me that it was operator error because I have no clue about the particular details on running the machine, all I do is step on the power pedal and go.  I would do well if I could sew a straight line but it escapes me.  I can't see straight, can't draw straight and certainly can't guide brother Jim straight when he's trying to hook up a trailer.  (You can read how we took care of that HERE .) It made me think of how we sisters are all different (I can't sew well and some of you can sew great :-) and need to be sure that we are not falling into the trap of perfectionism. I know God's Word says to do all things heartily unto Him (Colossians 3) but we should also be balanced lest we be stuck perfecting one thing and

Married To An Unbeliever (or Disobedient Christian Husband)

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I pray you are doing well and striving in the truth.  Brother Jim asked that I would do this post as an encouragement for those of you who are in this situation.  We thought I'd done one in the past but apparently not, and this is very important. 1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2  While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3  Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4  But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 5  For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6  Even as Sara obeyed Abra

Obedient Godly Women of Old...Dorcas (Tabitha)

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Today let's look at another Godly woman of old...Dorcas (Tabitha).  It's a short account but profound. 36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. 37  And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38  And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39  Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40  But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she s

Let The Children Come to Me

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, Today I want to share an audio with you that was made a few years back.  I was talking with one of our granddaughters (I think she was 4 at the time) about God's truth and part way into it I thought to record it.   It's so sweet to hear the faith of a child who was not raised in the truth of God's word as her parents are not born again believers.  (Our children were grown and gone when we were born again.) She has an older brother that we have been blessed to give much truth, he knows the gospel message and we are thankful to be able to have 'some' communication with them (they live far away) and we keep shining that light.  Lord willing, we will visit this summer and have some more time to share with them and their littlest sister who is now 4 and old enough to learn.  We pray the seeds go deep and grow within them.  This will definitely bring a smile to your face and warm your heart... I want to go back to her older br

Camper Van Updates

Image
Greetings sisters!   Let us rejoice in the Lord for He is Good.    For the  Lord  is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 100:5 That's the goodness we want to get out and share with the world and... to warn them of what's to come if they do not surrender to Him. And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 We are so close to being done and I thought I'd show you what's been going on with the van, as promised:-)  The cost to doing all this was

One More Day

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! I pray your day was productive and joyous in the Lord.  We had a bright sunny day, chilly with a breeze and we are amazed at how cool it is for this time of year.  We were reminiscing about 3 years ago, this time, we were staying here in our older, tinier camper that is slanted on a slope. sleeping in that and working on getting our carving business ready for the summer.  It was over 90 degrees, humid and super hot.  We had no water unless we drove to fill up our gallons and by the time we were to drink it, it was very warm. This year we are praising God for how perfect this weather is to get everything done we were planning before we hit the road...very soon. Brother Jim needed a few more things for his van project so we went this morning to get them.  Here's a hint of what he's doing... He's working on the process post and when he gets that done I'll post it for you.  I'll be taking some pics and video to show you what a

Obedient Godly Women of Old....Ruth

Image
Greetings sisters! I pray you are all standing strong today?! I thought it would be good to take a look at the godly women of old to gain encouragement from their obedience or learn from their mistakes. I won't go into great detail on the books themselves and the theology within them, but just examine the lives of the women and learn from them. The first on I want to start with is Ruth because she was a great encouragement to me as a new believer.  As we read through the book of Ruth we see that Naomi lost both her husband and two sons which left her and her two daughters in law.  She encourages both Ruth and Orpah to go back to their families: And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the  Lord  deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me. Ruth 1:8 We see that they were kind to their mother in law yet Orpah decides to go back to her people and this is what Naomi says to Ruth: And she said, Behold, thy s
