$1.58 Keeper at Home Harvest

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise the Lord we have had a chance to reorganize some things in the van (which needs to be done on a regular basis when living tiny) and catch up on some ministry projects.  I don't do much for keeper at home posts because I'm not on a homestead or even in a house so I have less of those chores to do but if I suppose if I thought hard enough I could come up with some posts for tiny house living...such as tools or gadgets I use:-) Being on the road doesn't allow me to have a garden like some of you are blessed with so I love hearing how your gardens are doing and how you take care of the bounty, good job sisters!  The way I harvest is from wise shopping, my phone apps (you can see that post HERE ) and surveys.  I'm always amazed at how our Father provides for us in so many different ways, one of which is low cost groceries. Brother Jim said that he was really hungry for a cheeseburger (those are super rare for us) so when I wen

Greetings sisters in Christ!   If you were here I would set a place for you to share our lunch and give thanks unto the Lord.  Some day we shall all be with Him if we endure in the faith, obediently until the end.  One thing have I desired of the  Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the  Lord  all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the  Lord , and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4 In an audio/video I did the other day I mentioned how I'm working on building up our food storage here on the land, now that we finally have time to do so and we're enjoying the disount food store for what they offer as we've been finding some great deals.  (What's been going on in your home?) The last time we were there brother Jim found a big  (BIG) box of super cheap Matzah (some say matzah, some say matzo and it's like a cracker) so we got it.  It's made of wheat and water and it has the texture of a stale cracker.  We, in the US, are

Thermal Cooking and Roof Top Storage

Greetings sisters in Christ! Praise God for His gift of another day to serve Him. Some day it will be our last so let's be sure we use each one wisely and for His glory! Thine, O  Lord  is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O  Lord , and thou art exalted as head above all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 Today is a simple keeper of the home post about my thermal cooker. Thermal cooking is like slow cooking but saves you power, in fact this thing has paid for itself many times over.  (I think they run $50-$60 but I got mine on sale for $45.  Either way the price is worth it.)  This one holds 3 quarts which is is a lot for us so I usually make just enough for a couple meals.  It's super sturdy, stainless steel and should last many years. You can cook all sorts of food in it but normally I do soup, usually something with potatoes and cabbage and then what

Cheese and Bread

Good evening sisters in Christ, Praise God for this glorious day.  Ours was a cold and rainy one as I began this post but we rejoice none the less because we are one day closer to going home to be with our Lord and Master! Tonight I have a simple post for you about the blessings of cheese and bread.  For some reason I have been finding awesome deals on cheese that I can't pass up!  One night brother Jim was busy in the van so I went in the store to see what they had for bargains. I found these for .75 cents each.   I bought 2 and brought them back out to the van to see if brother Jim would like them and if we wanted more. (I like a strong cheese.)   He did, and walked back in the buy the rest.  A couple nights later I found this discounted cheese for $1.25 lb, another awesome deal.  (Brother Jim really likes that kind.) What goes better with discount cheese than discount bread!  It's turned into a daily meal for us...we rip off a hunk of bread, a

Greetings sisters in Christ! I thank the Lord for every day that I get to send out my love on this blog to all of you.  We rejoice because we receive emails from believers all over the world, striving in the truth of God and we are thankful to be an encouragement to them.   Know that we are praying for you, keep your eyes on Christ and don't waver from the truth!!!  Let this blog be my contribution to the fellowship of the sisters:-) We just finished traveling across a state, heading into the midwest and I thought I'd do a fun post about food. Brother Jim and I really, really like ice cream but we don't eat it very often for a few reasons: * Health.  We eat healthy (not obsessive) and try not to over indulge in high calorie treats very often.   * Cost.  Ice cream shops are pretty pricey and it's hard for us to hand over $4-$5 for a pint at a grocery store.  Not that it would be sinful to do, we just choose to spend that money elsewhere. * I can't eat much

Eat This Not That

Greetings to my keeper at home sisters in Christ! Today I want to venture into the territory of foods and how it can take you into a whirlwind of confusion and despair, if you are not careful. Many of you will nod your heads and smile, knowing what I'm talking about but for those of you who are new to the world of the healthy food trap, let me enlighten you. The reason I want to do this is because many people question how, as Christians, we are to eat while living in this fallen world. Let me show you what you will find on the internet... * Eggs - Don't eat them because they contain cholesterol.  If you do eat them then toss out the yolk because that's where it is.  Eat lots of eggs because you need tons of protein, in fact eat them raw, they are better for you. Don't eat raw eggs, they'll kill you.  Don't eat eggs from chickens that aren't free range.  Only organic fed chickens have good eggs.  * Milk - Don't drink it because it has horm
