The Sin Maker and the Sin Breaker

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ! This is just a quick post for you married sisters who might encounter this particular situation in your life with your husband. See this here: Most of you probably know what that is.  For those of you who don't know, it's a trailer hitch, the part that hooks onto the vehicle so you can pull the trailer. I call it a 'sin maker'.  Question for you sisters.... How many of you have had to stand next to one of these and help direct your husband while he's backing up to it?   (I'm pretty sure some of you are not smiling right now.)   Brother Jim and I have a solution that has greatly improved our marriage :-) This is what you call a 'back up camera'.   It's the sin breaker!!! Yep, that thing is worth a million dollars ten times over! Brother Jim easily hooked it up and it's been one of the best investments we've made. ( A whole whopping $30 :-)   He's been using his for several y

Ye Are The Salt Of The Earth

Image
Good evening Christian sisters! We are enjoying a mild evening with a soft rain falling.  How is your evening? Today we had to run some errands and at one place I ran into the store for a salt shaker that seals out moisture while brother Jim waited in the van.  As I walked up to the doors that I normally enter through I saw signs saying the doors were closed, but someone had just walked out from them so I was confused.  It took me a couple seconds to realize that the world is still in their panic and I went to find the doors that would let me in.  As I wound through the entry maze and entered the store, I went right to the aisle I needed and searched for the salt shaker that I was hoping they would have.   They didn't have what I wanted and as I turned to walk back up the aisle I saw a woman moving along on a scooter chair coming toward me.  I stood where I was so that she could go where she wanted when she stopped right next to me. She wasn't wearing a face mask s

DIY Solar Cooker (Sun Oven)

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ!   Rejoice with me in this day the Lord has given us to glorify His name! We have been very busy, praise God, and are getting a lot of work done around here.  We are so thankful for the opportunity. Bother Jim cut me a bunch of cedar chunks to split for my cedar bin because cedar is great for blasting the wood stove when I cook on it. He taught me how to use the big ax with minimal effort.  (He had the minimal effort :-)   I can only do a small amount at a time but it won't be long and it will be full.  One day at a time, a little here and a little there and it all adds up.  I learn a lot of patience as I get older and struggle through trials but it makes me appreciate it all the more. So in a previous post I mentioned how years ago  we made a solar cooker (sun oven, whatever you want to call it) from recycled materials and guess what?  We did it again!  I had mentioned it to brother Jim and one day he brought out a round piece of glass th

Praises for Perfecting Sisters

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I praise you for your obedience and want to share that with you today! * Praises to you sisters who keep in daily remembrance, the gospel and what Christ has done for us!  By doing this daily, you will give glory to our Savior, strengthen yourself and set your focus for the day and why you are who you are. * Praises to you sisters who are obedient and submit to their husbands in all things, or strive very hard to do so! (Ephesians 5: 22) Often we see women who will only go 'so far' but yet keep the power over what they deem necessary, therefore putting a hindrance not only on their own walk but whatever the Lord is doing in the life of her husband. Praises for those of you who strive diligently in this area, enduring through the mishaps that may arise because of it. * Praises to you sisters who are cultivating a meek and quiet spirit, not only out in public, but at home to those who are there!  (1 Peter 3) Brother Jim and I will be ou

Praises To God

Greetings sisters in Christ, I hope your day was productive and joyous in the Lord!  I have it pressed on my mind to share with you verses about praising God. O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Isaiah 25:1 1Bless the  Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2  Bless the  Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4  Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5  Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6  The  Lord  executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. 7  He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. 8  The  Lord  is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. 9  He

The More They Afflicted Them, The More They Grew

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, I pray your day was joyous and victorious in the Lord.  I was reading in Exodus today and in chapter 1 vs 12 it says: But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew.  And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. Seems that the more the Egyptians pressured the Israelite's, the more robust and hearty they grew in their numbers.   Isn't that amazing how the opposite happens in God's world. In the world, the more I was pressed upon before I was in Christ, the faster I fell but after I was born again, the more I'm tested and tried, the more I grow in Him. Look at Apostle Paul when he was in chains and how that emboldened the people. Let us all keep this in mind when we come across trails in our life and as we get closer to what may be the end times.  Brother Jim was just saying on the phone (to a brother) tonight that today is the day we need to prepare for what's to come, whatever that may be. Wood Stoves for Heat and Cooking

Image
Greetings sisters in Christ, We woke to a rainy day which is a blessing to take a break from physical labor outside. Brother Jim filled this wood bin for us yesterday: ...and this one will be filled soon, with wood cedar chunks. That will be my job to fill as brother Jim cuts 3" round disks, I'll take the hand ax and chop them.  I was chopping small fire sized pieces of cedar so that I can dip them in wax this winter for fire starters.  I like to use cedar to boost the fire either when we're first starting it to get the heat going, or to flare it up for quicker cooking.  We have LOTS of cedar that we got when we had our carving business so I should be able to cook for many years on it. I'm actually doing this post about wood stoves so I can add it to my post I've been working on with multiple links about preparing for troubled times.  It just gives ideas on how a person could prepare for troubled times before they potentially hit. Not only d

The Gift of Gardens

Image
Good evening sisters in Christ! Praise God for this day He has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24) I'm also rejoicing in the fact that we were able to get some things for our garden and I'm looking forward to getting it set up. We are not planning on planting this year but are getting it ready for the time that might come, where we are not traveling.  I know some of you are readying your garden and I rejoice for you in it as I know how awesome it is to plant that tiny seed and to watch how God grows it into a plant bearing food to nourish us!   I love hearing how sisters are setting up their gardens, seeing their thankfulness and contentment in their words, hearing how they are working diligently in their Titus2 role in the home and offering different ideas, recipes etc. The other day we went for a drive to pick up some (very affordable) fencing that we found north of our place and how wonderful that the discount food store was on the way.
